The Outer Banks are beautiful throughout their length. The Northern Outer Banks are much like Kitty Hawk or Nags Head with their numerous shops and restaurants. There are some motels but it largely consists of rentals. Once you get past Corolla you must have a 4 wheel drive preferably with plenty of clearance as it is driving on the beach. We always stop here on our way to the OBX to get coupons for great deals and all manner of useful information on restaurants, shops, etc. The staff is always polite and there to answer questions. On the way to OBX we needed a stop from heavy traffic and a restroom break. This welcome center was the right move and then some.
