A&C took a $1000 deposit from my boyfriend for a kitchen in my home that I could not afford. I did not commit to buying anything, they did not ask me what my budget was for a kitchen and they did not come to my home to measure my kitchen or to find out what I wanted. They produced a kitchen design with an estimate of $24,000 which was totally out of my price range. I asked about a cheaper cabinet and the estimate was still $11,000. I realized that their cabinets were completely out of my price range so I asked for the deposit back. I was told the deposit is non-refundable! The design they provided could not be used because I can not afford their design. I called & emailed the sales guy, Sam he told me due to my unique situation he would see about a refund and that he would get back to me, he never did. I then asked to speak to a manager and spoke to Bill who promised to call me back the next day and never did. When you promise a customer that you will contact them a good business person follows through with their promise. The fact that they are saying that the deposit is non refundable is unacceptable, especially when I never gave consent or a commitment to them for a kitchen. They did not come to my home to take measurements or speak to me about what I wanted to spend or about the design I wanted. To be reasonable I said I was willing to pay $100 for their time to create a design which is completely useless to me but I understand time is money but a $1000 is robbery & not speaking to me before taking the deposit is sloppy business policies and their design is not worth $1000 after all isn’t there job to provide you with a visual of what your kitchen could look like. I have called other kitchen companies and not one that I could find charged $1000 for a design that a customer can not afford. I understand that people take their design and use it to hire another kitchen designer but that is not the case in my situation and I have the design for a kitchen that I was able to afford and it’s nothing like what I received from A&C. I want my money back and I think that under the circumstances it should be returned to me. The way the have handled my situation by promising to get back to me and never doing so is unprofessional and uncalled for I have been polite & nice up to this point but now I feel taken advantage of. I will hire a lawyer if I have to but I hoped it would not come to that. They do not have my signature or commitment for me to buy cabinets from them. I believe it would be in their and my best interest if they returned the deposit minus the $100 which is a lot of money for a design that could not be used but an offer of good faith...

I've heard good things about A&C but our designer didn't meet expectations for a several thousand dollar transaction. We felt like emails weren't being read and measurements weren't what we asked for. We had an appointment and our emails and instructions were printed out but designer still hadn't clearly read them. I went on cabinets.com and had to design what I wanted and it still wasn't understood.

We stood there at our appointment talking about a $6500 quote. Asking would this be double, or a little more? Questions like that and our designer was answering. It turns out there was never a quote but that was an allowance and our cheapish cabinets ended up being about $9k. I want to say we emailed dimensions for two weeks then it still took 3 weeks or a month after the appointment to get an accurate quote.

All in all it was not a good customer experience for an almost $10,000 transaction. Maybe A&C is good but our designer just moved at a much slower pace than expected and required a lot of ...
