Because I frequently drive between Albany and Columbus due to military duties, I often stop by Mark's Melon Patch.
It's a great place to stop and stretch your legs if you're on a long trip. Jams, watermelons, peanuts, and honey! There's bound to be something you'll enjoy! I do think it's a little pricey, but they carry and sale quality produce, something I'm okay with paying a little extra for.
Boiled peanuts are a southern favorite! Mark's has the BEST boiled peanuts in southwest Georgia! The last batch I tried was a little green, regardless they were delicious! Perfectly salted and tender! Believe it or not, there are people that have never tried boiled peanuts! If you're one of those, you're missing out!
The Sugar Baby Watermelons are sweet and juicy. If you haven't tried a Yellow Watermelon, give one a try! They're really good!
I encourage everyone to visit Mark's, especially in the Fall when the corn mazes are open and pumpkins are ready for picking! You'll have a great time
*My only complaint is the issue with larger vehicles parking along the highway shoulder. Where they have to park can be obstructive when you're trying to leave the parking lot. Be careful pulling out! I know the issue isn't necessarily the burden of Mark's to fix, but maybe some signage could help? I'm sure the GDOT would accommodate the need for signage especially when it becomes a safety hazard for other visitors...
Read moreMade a trip to Georgia last week and on our way back south we decided to stop and get some Georgia boiled peanuts. Expecting something great we got just the opposite . The worst boiled peanuts I have ever had . Also bought the candied pecans , they tasted like cardboard . Again expecting something great because all you see on both sides of the road are pecan groves . I'm not exaggerating. Also bought a pecan pie , again expecting some good pecan pie . Sorry . The worst pie I've ever had . Cheese straws were actually pretty good , I will give them that . They are more than overpriced, WAY overpriced for what they deliver . Also bought 2 "bushels" of peas , uncooked thankfully . They should turn out pretty good . It's a neat place to stop and stretch your legs, look around and even buy some boiled peanuts but if you're expecting something delicious , dont get these . Hopefully they'll do better...
Read moreA lot more than 60 dollars worth of merchandise here at this location I bought the obligatory fried peanuts I also bought raw peanuts several other nut treats and some fresh produce including squash melons and sweet corn however the sweet corn did not survive on the way back to Florida in my ice down cooler so I don't know if it was just poor quality or it just got too warm or it was too old. The melons were excellent cantaloupes were top shelf and the yellow watermelon was very interesting. I will definitely stop there again when I visit the Albany area and load up on Peanuts I mean load up very reasonable prices top quality no broken peanuts no shells no debris all very good quality nuts. It's a beautiful little farm setting that looks like they have a Halloween maze I wish I would have gotten there earlier in the year to see all the beautiful zinnias and...
