My daughter & I golfed there about a year ago. Fortunately, it was our first & last time golfing here. I remember driving up from Carlsbad that HOT day. I somehow found this course on the net searching for courses in the area. It seemed like a nice enough course from the photos. The rates seemed a little more but it was a new place that we've never been to. We were enjoying our round despite how hot it was that day. I could tell that my daughter had almost had enough by the end of the Front 9, but we continued onto the Back 9. As we were finishing up Hole 11, our cart decided to die on us. We chugged it along onto the next hole (Hole 12 tee box) where it wouldn't go any further. Since there was a course marshall sitting a cart after Hole 11, we notified him about the cart (abandoned the cart just past Hole 12 yee box). I told my daughter at this point that she didn't have to play anymore if she wasn't up to it. I went ahead, and proceeded to play (walking) Hole 12. After Hole 12, we both decided to call it quits, and walk back to our car. Not sure if anyone ever came to retrieve the cart because we never saw an attendant pass us. We never saw anyone come for us with replacement cart, nor anyone offered us a ride back to the clubhouse. Anyhow, thanks for the experience, but it will be a while until we attempt to golf there again. We have golfed at these places (Indian Hills, Jurupa Hills, Marshall Canyon, Whittier Narrows, Alhambra), which we found much better (condition & rates), and more...
Read morePlayed the course mid January 2024. As far as the course, it was fun, and breakfast was good and fair priced. If you are thinking about playing this course, here's something to keep in mind. If there is a frost warning, be careful. There was a frost warning the morning we played and we had to pay a full round even though we only played 15 holes. We were a foursome and as they pack people together one of our players had to bow out the whole round so we could keep pace. When I went to clubhouse after to try and get back $42 for the round and $46 for the club rental that we didn't use, they couldn't help and gave me the manager's number and email 'as he was busy at the moment'. I left messages with him numerous times as well as an email over the next month with no response. I figured they would refund us for services not used but that's not the case. Just be careful in this situation. I'm writing this review as it appears one of the ways they make money is by practices like this. Take advantage of how players are already there and wanting to play by making them pay for full rounds and services players sometimes can't use because the pace is so fast. This seems to be a common practice since Covid where businesses can do whatever they want at the expense of the customer. It would just be nice for businesses like this to start taking responsibility again not only in practice but in customer service. We will never golf here again based...
Read moreDisclaimer: I am a beginner... so please take this with a grain of salt.
And since I'm a beginner, I won't rate the course itself, but the environment, staff and amenities are exactly what a golfer needs (beginner or not)...
Bar/Lounge Great size, old-school lounge. Pleasant bartenders. Good drinks. Lots of regulars but everyone is friendly.
Range Grass range. Wide and long. Just don't go in the mid-morning the sun will be right in your drive path. Very easy to lose your balls in the sun. Perfect place for an afternoon session.
Club house Friendly-staff. Totally willing to help a newbie out. Just gotta be respectful. Fair prices. Not a lot of variety in terms of gear (but you shouldn't be buying your gear at the club house anyways)
Experience And last but not least... actually lets get real, it's my favorite part of playing this course... the BEER CART!! Thursday - Sunday you'll find a friendly-staff member slanging beers and shots from hole to hole. You can usually catch them early in your game and arrange for them to meet you on any other hole. They'll also put beers in a bag of ice if you want! Other courses may have this, but staff-friendliness can not be...
