Sadly when I walked into 5 Mile I was made to feel as I was an intrusion not a customer walking into their Distillery. The two women were engaged in conversation with the only other people there a couple, who are friends of theirs that live in the area. Though I understand they were initially visiting, I was not greeted and only pointed to merchandise to purchase. I had to stess wanting to purchase a bottle of moonshine. However did want to taste two others as I was only aware of one of the flavors. Once again this felt like an annoyance. The one however did suggest the tasting. When the couple was in there she did want to be part of that conversation. However, when they left, she did try engage until the other would pull her aside. The other I am not sure if she was a manager, acted as if I stranger that had walked into her home the whole time I was there. She completely ignored the fact I was there. Even when the couple left, she was on her phone rolling her eyes when I asked a question regarding if the corn came from Floyd. Mind you I grew up in Floyd, thus why I asked. When I was engaging with the other employee she pulled her aside asking her questions that could have waited. I did purchase 3 bottles to bring home (along with my tasting). Upon my leaving another local freind came in. After spending the amount I did I was not acknowledged with a "Thank You" or "Good-by" The friend of course again understandably was. However, once again, it stressed the intrusion. Possibly they feel freinds spend more money over a length of time then what they feel a person who comes in once. However, they don't know who may being coming into their establishment. If 5 Mile is not prepared to be open if that were the case, then telling patrons when they walk in would be more appropriate than making them feel like...

The staff was very polite and helped explain Virginia's Covid rules since I was traveling through. The atmosphere st the distillery is great and very relaxed. It was a great way to break up the 5 hour drive and have a place to sit and relax. If I'm traveling through I will be stopping to get another...

The cocktails and moonshine are amazing and the place has a great vibe. I only wish we could consume more while we're in premise because we weren't ready to leave after reaching our limit. Can't wait...
