I recently purchased an RV from Fun Town RV. During the initial portion of the sale, the representatives were very nice and showed us what would become our new RV. We were given all the specs of the RV and thought it was a great deal. They spiced up the deal by giving us the tow hitch to displace the weight and the starter kit. On the day we went in to complete the purchase, I asked if the starter kit was part of the deal that was already included based on the description of some language that stated something to the effect of RV "options - camping ready". When I asked about that, it was stated that the RV did not include a starter kit. I believe that is misleading. Then that leads to the delivery of the RV, which was not on the same day.
We were scheduled to take delivery of the RV on a Friday afternoon with an appointment at 12:30pm. I arrived around 12:20 and waited for 40 minutes before we even started the walk thru. By this time the thunder storm had come in and it was raining and there was thunder and lightning. If we had started at 12:30 that could have been avoided. I did the walk thru and pointed out some issues but was immediately told "Are you refusing delivery" which would have delayed the delivery. So that felt like I was being rushed and could not point out minor issues. Because it was raining with lightning and thunder we did the walk thru too fast as I stated to the service guys because we were underneath a metal roof. I was not able to see the top of the roof. Also, there was no ladder to climb. Which leads me to the nonexistent solar panels I was told were on the RV.
So fast forward two weeks and I have been in contact with the sales representative asking him if I could leave the fridge plugged in with only one battery with the solar panel? He stated it could work but best bet is to buy a second battery. After purchasing all the extra wires, battery, and case I installed the second battery so I could leave the fridge running while in open storage. I had no worries since I had solar panels that would charge two batteries. After the installation of the batteries, I moved on to installing a rear view camera. When I used my home ladder to climb to the top of the RV I was shocked to discover I could not find the solar panels I was told were on the roof. When I asked the sale representative to help me out, I was informed he was out of the country. The next representative that I talked to, named Austin, told me he pulled the build on the RV and that there were no solar panels only solar ready.
Which leads me to this point, I was told, and I bought this RV, on the understanding that it had solar panels. It was pointed out when we looked at the RV that the box inside the storage compartment was the solar panel control and he pointed out the blue light indicating it was charging the battery. That was prior to the sale of the RV and during the walk thru, as well. During my conversation with Austin, he stated that if they listened to every customer that stated the RV was missing something that was not part of the deal or explicitly in writing, he would be out of business. While that is an understandable statement, I don't appreciate being called a liar. I explained that there were conversations and a sales pitch that the RV had solar panels. I literally purchased additional equipment from them based on that premise of solar panels.
Bottom line is Fun Town RV employees don't know the products they are selling, they do not honor appointments, call customer liars, and are unprofessional. This is how they mistreat customers and call a Veteran a liar. If you are a Veteran or customer looking to buy an RV, Fun Town RV is not the place for you. I would go to an RV dealer that knows their products, better customer service, makes and keeps appointments, and honors their veterans, not call them liars.
UPDATE-11 May 2023
After a BBB complaint and the salesman not remembering our multiple conversations, Fun Town RV provided a solution. Will have solar soon. Thank you,...
Read moreSo, where do I even begin? We first visited Fun Town RV right after they opened their San Antonio store. Back then, we were eyeing a Brinkley RV, but they didn’t have any on the lot yet. We had a great salesperson who never pressured us, and when a Brinkley finally arrived, he gave us a heads up. We had made it clear that we weren’t ready to buy for at least another year, and they totally respected that.
Fast forward to this past November, we called to find the same salesperson, but he had moved on. Instead, we met Colby Miller. After sharing our history with him, he treated us like old pals and showed us all the 2024 models we were interested in. If he was busy, he always made sure to check in on us. One thing I really appreciated was that he never spoke negatively about competitors or even the previous salesperson, which is pretty rare in sales.
We had a ton of questions, especially about the Brinkley model we were narrowing in on. Colby was super knowledgeable and answered almost everything. For the more technical questions, especially about the new suspension system that hadn’t been officially announced yet, Colby called the Brinkley rep while we were there, making sure we got the right info.
We decided to wait a month before placing our order so we could get the new suspension system and updated pricing. In December, we officially ordered our 2025 RV. We also worked with the service and parts department for quotes and communicated our needs with Colby through text and writing. Our RV arrived right after Christmas, and we hired an inspector to go over it and create a punch list.
On pickup day, there were still a few things we needed to finish. Despite the wait, it was awesome to have the team congratulate us on our purchase. We sat down with Franz Grimes in finance, and he made the whole process super smooth. He even worked his magic to get us the right payment and coverage we wanted. As a side note, if you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ll love the Mandalorian items on his desk! He also recommended Texas Bistro, where we grabbed a late lunch while waiting for the final touches on our RV.
Jason from the service department was amazing. He showed us the RV and answered all our questions, even the ones my husband called silly. There were a few things on our punch list that we missed, but we went over them on the spot. I’m still getting the hang of the leveling system, but I’m confident I can figure it out.
We took our RV and did a shakedown cruise knowing we still had to come back for the inverter and lithium battery install due to delayed shipment.
The only real challenge we had was communication between Sales, Service and Parts. This was the most frustrating part as communications between departments is never smooth. We’re still waiting on some items on our punch list to be completed as we prefer not to leave our rig overnight. That being said, Fun Town is making sure everything gets done, and that’s what really matters. At the end of the day, all you want is a company that stands by you and makes sure you’re happy.
Everyone we worked with in all departments have been super friendly, easy to work with and really enjoy their jobs. It just makes the whole experiment with it.
Even with the hiccups, our experience at Fun Town RV was one of the best we’ve ever had when buying an RV or working with a dealership I would totally recommend them to anyone, whether you’re just browsing or...
Read moreI been doing my diligence online and thought I would go look at RVs in person . I came across Fun town RV in San Antonio. I was notified by John through call/text to come by and he’ll be ready to assist me . I came in with my two daughters (3 and 1yr) at noon on June 10th to also see if they would like the new arrangements . I walk in ,the front lady was nice and offered me water for me and the kids . Told me john would come soon . John came about 5min later told me he wanted to chat with me . I was sitting my daughters down and the first thing he asks me is if I’m buying today . I told him no if anything in October . His demeanor changed and was very rude . He tells me I’m wasting my time looking because everything will be sold by then . I understood and told him my reasoning for coming which is to see if my kids and I would like the arrangement and get a feel for it . He seemed so annoyed afterwards on any question I had . He kept reminding me that I’m wasting my time . He was being rude when I asked him a simple question .He later ask desperately if I at least have a down payment today I said I got at least $1,000 he just shook his head said well I need 10% . Starts downing me like I don’t have good credit or have any chance . He made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable as he looked so annoyed and as he was showing me some RVs wouldn’t wait for me and my daughters instead would walk so far and turn around like he’s waiting for us annoyed . We go inside he let me look at some new inventory. Another gentleman was there and offered my daughters some toys and was being very friendly which I appreciate with all the rudeness and bad vibes from JOHN . I later told him I wanted to look at other models and gets upset because I told him I seen them on other sites and was just interested if y’all had them . He continued to be negative and turns down my choice of opinions I was interested in . At this point I feel attacked. I drove one hour to be harassed if I was going to buy something today . Having my daughters witness this unprofessional salesman I demanded I was DONE . He made me feel so uncomfortable I literally told him I’m done talking to him as I am walking with him back into the building. He kept asking me questions and I kept saying to leave me alone I am done . He tried to say he was sorry about me “feeling” that way but it was obvious he was upset I wasn’t buying today . I talked to the supervisor which seemed like he genuinely cared but I was done with wasting my time there . It’s sad how one person … ONE PERSON can make a person(s) experience horrible and terrifying. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE OR TO TALK TO JOHN . It’s sad I thought I would come here learning something … i guess it’s to stay AWAY from...
