53 credit card fraud dept review
I’ve been a 53 customer since they bought my hometown bank over 20 years ago. I’ve had my paycheck deposited there and had several savings, checking, and credit card accounts with them.
I’m done with their credit cards.
A handful of times over the last few years I’ve been denied purchases both online and in person. During that time I consistently paid the bill in full every month and never got close to my limit. Time and time again I’d have to make the time to call, navigate their phone tree menu options, and find a human to get a reset on my card. I have yet to get a logical reason for the “security concerns” that triggered the block. Then, it happened again. I received a letter from 53 that “in an effort to protect and better serve our customers . . . Suspicious transactions . . . We have been attempting to contact you but telephone, but, to date, have been unsuccessful.
There were no records that I could see of their suspicious transactions and I have received no calls from 53 fraud department.
I tried to call and while holding for the fraud department the line was stopped on their end - 3 times in one day.
And then Amazon notified me my card was declined for a purchase I had on subscription.
And then my card insurer notified me the card was declined and I was being charged $30 unless I could show my bank was responsible.
So I stopped by my local branch. The teller verified my account had a block on it and she was unable to remove it. She then called on my behalf, properly identified herself, and asked for clarification. The woman in customer service told her that the customer (me) would have to call on my own personal phone, not one from the branch. I asked for a name to ask for and a number to dial. I was told to ask for the fraud department and gave me the same number the teller had called.
The teller then checked my account and saw the block had been removed.
Are you kidding me?
I was a fraud investigator for many years and I know fraud when I see it. It’s in the credit card fraud department of Fifth Third, when they are called on a mistake and don’t possess the integrity to own up to it.
I’m on the hook with my insurance company and it will be a cold day in hell before use this...
Read morethe branch on gilead Rd, Huntersville NC are the most rude people I have ever seen, I opened an account in August in that branch and I called Oct 13 to request a letter with my information and all my deposits I have done since opened the account for an immigration issue, so I talked to a lady that she told me it would be ready for Tuesday Oct 25 in the morning, then the same day I called back to tell them something that I forgot to tell about the letter, so when I got there Tuesday, Annie its I think manager or something else, she treated me like she first ignored me and told me that she couldn't talk to me because she has a customer I told her that I was there just to picked a letter that suppose to be ready for Tuesday , so she asked me who I talked to so I told her I talked to a lady also a man , so it was my mistake no asked names, so she told me that she didn't know anything about it and I need the letter for that day in the morning, so she didn't help me and she told me to come next day I told her if there is any other lady working there she told yes but she won't interrupt her, I used to work in banks and it doesn't matter to ask someone or even called through the internal phone, so I lose my appointment in immigration that day then when I returned next day , they had my letter and still she knew who I was and still they requested my ID and no even said any apologized to don't have my letter that day and then when I said bye have a good day no one answered , I think those people have a racial issue and it is sad because I think that person Annie it is east European. They should be more organized and be serious when customer request something and don't make people lose their time and respect people and be nicer and be polite to at least answer my greeting. No matter how much money you have in the bank people working there should be more polite and...
Read moreFifth third bank has to be the worst bank that I have ever dealt with. Open an account literally anywhere else.
I opened a fifth third account and bought my home through them, which has since been a 5 year headache. I could deal with the online banking that lags or our cards constantly getting hacked if literally anyone that worked for this company was knowledgeable or even polite.
I had been trying to get fifth third to drop the PMI on my home. I had bought it at the age of 25 and completely remodeled it. I did a home equity line of credit to do some last things before we were putting the house up for sale. Fifth third came out and appraised my house for more than twice what I owe on it. I was excited, so my personal banker told me to write the letter to drop my PMI. We decided not to sell so fast forward to two months later of fighting with even more rude people at fifth third (is anyone who works for your bank polite) I am still told they won’t use that appraisal done by fifth third, and that I need to pay $750 for a new one. I was even recommended on to some joke of a department called fifth third cares and spoke with Takia Johnson who insisted she would handle the situation and couldn’t even find the appraisal in the system. I had to scan and upload it to her, only for her to finally call back and say I’d have to pay for another one because this one wasn’t ordered by fifth third. What!?! She basically accused me of ordering it myself despite it having fifth third all over it. Don’t get a loan from this bank, don’t open an account, just don’t do it. They are the rudest people I have ever dealt with, and I can’t wait to close my account and refinance...
