Hillside Country Store — Local services in Circleville

I have been to this store at least 20 times. My wife and I make an almost monthly visit to the store to stock up on spices and bulk goods. They have fantastic selection of deli cheeses and meats and will make sandwiches to order with any of them along with a variety of vegetables and condiments. The store also has a selection of home related items and outdoor furniture that appear to be reasonably priced compared to other Amish run stores in the area and in Holmes County. They also have a selection of pies, cinnamon rolls, and other basked goods, but you had better get there early to make sure you get your choice! I believe that this store represents a great place to get a little bit of that Amish flavor from Holmes County here...

I love stopping here when I'm in the area. Visiting here calls forth feelings of nostalgia and reminds me of my grandmothers who have passed on, and brings back some great memories, if maybe a little bittersweet at times. I would be lying if I claimed I only visited for the cheese. Between the music playing in the background and the atmosphere, this store makes me feel peaceful and brightens my day. On to the wares: the fresh bread, cheese, and cinnamon rolls are a must, and I also like to pick up some candies and birch soda. I also love the hand painted glass signs in the back of the store. The ice cream alone is worth a visit — rich, creamy, and perfectly made. Beyond the food, the ladies running the counter are genuinely wonderful — friendly, helpful, and always ready with a smile or a suggestion. Walking through the store feels like stepping into a simpler, happier world where everything is made with care. I left with a full bag of goodies and a huge smile.
