I had a very disheartening experience this evening with Lotus Yoga. I am a disabled person that utilizes my fully trained mobility and medical alert service dog of 5 years. He alerts me to oncoming medical emergencies and consistently mitigates my disabilities. My service dog is covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The owner of the establishment however, had no idea that the ADA even existed. Upon entry I was bombarded with demands for my service dog’s certification, to which I informed that there was no such thing. I explained the two legal questions that a place of business was allowed to ask. The rest of my explanation was hardly received. After further educating the staff, I was still told it would be better for me to leave. At this point the class was a quarter way through, and I really didn’t want to stay in a place that discriminated against people with disabilities. I would recommend for my fellow disabled peers to steer clear of this establishment, as there will not be any accessibility or accommodation. Unfortunately, we will not be returning; it was my first time accompanying my sister, a long-time member and yogi at Lotus. I hope that this review prompts the staff to educate themselves on the ADA laws and how they were in direct...
Read moreThe Lotus Pond is all around the best yoga studio I have been to in the Tampa Bay area. When you walk into the grounds it's like entering another realm. A very peaceful serene place. It has 3 yoga studio's, a tea.house, massage spa and even an ayervedic doctor on site. It is more then just a yoga studio, it is a wellness center. I am proud to say I received my 200 hour yoga teacher training certification at the Lotus Pond. I highly recommend this is program for anyone pursuing a career teaching this ancient art. There are several different teachers that are very knowledgeable in each aspect of teaching and yoga. You will walk out of this program with the ability to create your own classes as well as the wisdom and knowledge to live life more fully and honorably. They even have the option of taking the 200 hours over a 7 month period with a pay as you go plan. Great school, amazing teachers, beautiful surroundings, and wonderful community. I highly recommend the Lotus Pond for all...
Read moreThe Lotus Pond is unlike any other yoga center in the Tampa Bay area and beyond----when you pull up to the grounds you no longer feel like you're in Tampa, you feel like you're in the mountains. The beautiful waterfall in the back is so serene and peaceful. I take a deep breath just arriving. This is all before even entering the gorgeous, big log cabin that houses 4 different practice rooms. The Lotus Pond offers a much wider range of classes, workshops, and events than other studios as well---it's not all about performing yoga tricks or sweaty power. You can learn about the comprehensive practice of yoga, involving meditation, ayurveda, and more. And their YTT program is by far the most professional and thorough that I know...
