My experience with Thompson hospital is always unpleasant. Some of the staff are friendly and empathetic but the nurses and physicians are entitled and Every time I go there to seek immediate medical attention. I explained my medical condition regarding my skin, and Every single time I go I am questioned about my mental health. That is not the reason why went there, I am there to seek medical attention and relief from the on going symptoms I am experiencing. My primary care office is unavailable. My only option was the ER and after hours of waiting in the waiting room the provider comes in and tells me she is not impressed with the details on my skin basically saying that she didn't believe me. I explained that the cream that I had used did not work. And I begged for an alternative solution. Her only recomdation was an ineffective dose of hydroxyzine and was going to refuse me anything else to treat my skin. And after tearing my shirt off, crying and begging for something that will treat the skin condition she finally agreed to accommodate my concerns . But only prescribed on single dose of the medication but prescribed a weeks week's worth of a minimal dose of hydroxyzine... I tried to call back the ER and The Nurse was evidently unhappy to speak to me regaining my concerns. Refused the potential option to accommodate me with another dose, as if I were asking him for oxycotton. This skin condition often requires multiple treatments in order to successfully treat it. And I do not follow up with a dermatologist for another two months and I asked for a refferal to another one closer to where I live. And they refused that of course as well and gave me the same number to the same dermatologist and told me to call them myself as If I had not already tried to get an appointment sooner. If they look into your my care chart and see that you have a prior history of mental health and or drug dependence. Good luck because they will not take you seriously. And they also failed to attempt to provide me with medical Transportation, leaving me the only option which was to walk home 3 miles at 11:30 pm I 36° weather. But at least they gave me socks, and that was probably because they wanted me to leave. It was clear to me that I was not welcomed. And I hope this one single dose works because I really do not want to go back there. And I should not have to beg and convince them that I need medical attention. If they are unimpressed with my medical symptoms and the severity Of how I feel and look physically; Then I am unimpressed with their medical maltreatment. Their room was dirty. Equipment had blood on it, ew. They disregarded my vitals and told me to go back to the room for asking for a sandwich and having to use the bathroom. Do they treat...
Read moreI have terrible stories in regards to this hospital that span decades. However, I was unlucky enough to have a bulged disc in my back in April. The ambulance took me to Thompson. Shockingly enough, my visit started out great. Immediately in the ERD room, the doctor in to see me in 5 minutes or so. They gave me pain meds. I had a MRI. Noting significant enough to be admitted. My visit was good, until they wanted me to leave. My boyfriend left to swap vehicles as I was told I would be discharged in an hour or so. Apparently they changed their mind, because 20 minutes later they were putting me in a wheel chair and sending me out to the entrance to the waiting room although my ride was 30 minutes away. This probably would also have been fine if I did not start projectile vomiting as soon as I got into the wheel chair. They pushed me past the nurses desk while I was vomiting. They pushed me through the waiting room while I was vomiting. They left me in the little foyer of the waiting room by myself while I waited a half hour for my ride to arrive. The administrator behind the admissions desk looked out at me at one point while I was vomiting. She kept on sitting there though. I received no help from anyone. There I sat in the entry way completely high on Dilauded and violently ill with my purse set on my knee where the orderly left it and an unlocked wheel chair while I vomited. I am talking severely vomiting. Not spitting up, not nauseous. Projectile vomiting into a little pink basin. Luckily I was too sick to try to get up. I did not fall out of the chair. However, I did call and put in a complaint which they "looked into". I told the woman on the phone that I did not anything from them, but rather I had hoped that my complaint would be a learning opportunity. I know that there are cameras everywhere in the ED. I asked for them to be pulled and viewed. It took a couple of months, but I just got my response back and it does not sit well with me. They basically broomed me. Now I am wishing that I had complained to the Board of Health as I was told to do by many people in health care. I am a relatively healthy 53 year old. Be sure if you end up at this ED with a loved one, that someone is there to advocate for them until you leave. There is no one there to care about your well being. Even though this hospital has been taken over my the U of R, they are still the same substandard ED that they have...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible. I’m a really understanding person when it comes to hospitals and having low staff or not a lot of beds I don’t like to go to the hospital in the first place because out of fear I’m bothering them. I waited 2 and a half hours in the waiting room I had blood drawn and sent back to the waiting room I then have to do a urine sample and I sat for the rest of the time in the waiting room holding a bag with my urine in it . Gross! I then finally got a room the doctor came in not so long after getting this room proceeds to preform a test and look at my gallbladder even though I had said my stomach hurts im having pain for weeks on end nausea and headaches the doctor completely ignores that and proceeds to do a ultra sound on my gallbladder as I'm sitting up didn't let me lay down or anything after she preformed this ultrasound she told me its most likely acid reflux and offers to give me this “cocktail” and that it should take away my stomach pain and all my symptoms. So a nurse who was very sweet and understanding btw gives me this “cocktail” I take it and my doctor comes back 20 minutes later asks if it helped I said no I’m still having stomach pain she shrugs and goes well if you end up getting a fever or vomiting come back . WHAT! I waited 2 and a half hours in a waiting room to get no answers about my pain the right tests not preformed just to get sent on my way still in pain BTW!! Absolutely horrible I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to my worst enemy. Hospitals are supposed to always go one step above this hospital didn’t even take a step gave me lower than the bare minimum and kicked me out . Also had a 1 year old with a horrible cough and struggling to breathe in the waiting room longer than me because they didn’t consider it high priority . A absolute joke . Shocked their still open they’ve...
