Iāve been using grocery pickup at Rome Hannaford since the pandemic, and am usually quite satisfied. Today however, I ran into three problems. First, when I called to announce my arrival, I mentioned I had a paper coupon (I had also put this in my order notes). No one came to get it and cashed out my order without the coupon. It was for an item I wouldnāt have purchased otherwise, so I was a little annoyed. When they were loading the groceries, I got out and offered to put anything in the backseat that couldnāt fit in the trunk. The man told me he was going to be able to fit everything and was fine. When I got home and opened my trunk, a glass bottle of cherry juice came crashing out of the trunk. Besides losing the product (an expensive juice I needed for a recipe), I had to spend an 45 minutes picking up glass, mopping, and sweeping my garage. The staff has a knack for selecting the freshest produce and finding the best substitutions whenever something on my list isn't available. Their choices are so thoughtful, it's as if I had picked them out myself.
What truly sets this service apart, though, is the exceptional customer service. Everyone involved in the pick-up process is incredibly helpful and genuinely friendly, making each interaction a pleasant experience. They've also been very accommodating whenever I've needed to adjust my pick-up time, whether I'm running late or need to come in early. This level of flexibility and understanding adds a layer of convenience that is much appreciated in my busy schedule.

The summary print-out sheet of substitutions and out-of-stock items was placed in one of the brown paper bags and I had gotten all the way home before I had a chance to read the summary sheet to see that several items were substituted and out-of-stock.
This review is meant to bring attention to this flaw in the process. At no point leading up to my arrival or during the loading-of-the-bags process was anything brought to my attention that these items would be substituted or out-of-stock. I would have went into the store to get something else instead of getting all the way home to find that I can't make the dinner I had planned for tonight. These substitutions and out-of-stock items need to be brought to the customer's attention before they leave the parking lot.
