Positive Chimney & Fire Place — Local services in Clam Lake Township

I am so disappointed as a long term customer of Positive Chimney. We had a maintenance check up on our gas stove in July with them. Didn’t use the stove until September, when we realized that something was wrong with it because the flame was not burning like it should be, it was very sooty and tall and way more orange colored than it should be. Called them to have them check it out. Didn’t call back for 2 weeks. I then called the Ludington location and received immediate help. Booked an appointment for Oct 6. Russ canceled due to issues at the previous appointment. I called and rescheduled for Oct 16, Matt canceled on me, again stating issues on the previous appointment before mine. They called and said that they won’t be out till Dec 11 and there were no other appointments available. Since this is our main source of heat, I am very unhappy about this situation, but they seem very resistant to help me out. I’m not sure why, but all I can say is I’ll have to find another dealer. So upset:(

Update: 10/30/2020 Thank you so much, Herb, Steve and Noah!! Herb scheduled my 3rd appointment, Steve and Noah came out, fixed the problem and went above and beyond while here to service my stove. A very nice ending to what was a very frustrating situation. 5 stars to these...

We suffered a chimney fire in a relatively new build (within the last 20 years). Good luck finding a chimney repair service in Northern Michigan or so we thought. Fortunately a retired chimney sweep recommended Positive Chimney in Cadillac. I called them immediately. We met with Dave and Mike at their store then Mike did a site visit. This was no easy fix. Dave did an excellent job in explaining the type of fire place insert they have used for years and highly recommended. Their recommendation was installing a Bellfire Rumford style pre cast refractory replacement fireplace. Included is a firebox, hearth, flares, and smoke chamber. They have worked with this company for years and this was important to us. Fortunately, insurance covered most of the cost. Even in COVID the materials arrived pretty much on time. Russ did an outstanding job in the installation which took half a day. Remarkably, the fire place draft is better than the original and it burns robustly. It’s outstanding. Highly recommend....

Great company and terrific service. We bought fireplace and chimney parts from this company in 2007 and after a tree branch destroyed parts of the chimney, we went back to Cadillac to buy replacement parts. The owner, Chris Richardson, personally waited on us and helped us get the right parts for the replacements. When two of the parts had to be ordered, Chris arranged for the delivery to the original store in Cadillac AND personally delivered them to a brand new store he is opening in Ludington for more convenient pickup nearer to our home in Pentwater!
