I hope someone like myself, who reads reviews often will read this and truly use it to make a decision. This has nothing to do with the overall condition of the course itself. This review has all to do with the staff / members who think they are staff that "work" at this golf course.
This wasn't my first time playing Meadowbrook. In fact, I have played there quite frequently. However, I have a problem with my last two times specifically, which BOTH deal with great conditions, but horrible staff.
Last time I played there, we were in a foursome and had been waiting for several holes on the back nine. We were finishing up the 17th hole and one of their staff members came up and, with a very aggressive tone, demanded that we "move faster". Lets keep in mind here that we have been behind several groups for most of the back, so for him to come at our group with the tone / aggression that he did was ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. He was an older guy with short grey / white hair (seemed to be losing it a little). Whoever this guy was, he had no reason doing what he did to our group at play.
Fast forward several months...we're playing golf today and the pro tells us that holes 4 and 5 were closed due to tree damage. Totally fine, we get it. So we tee off on hole number 6 (which runs right next to number 5), and my buddy hits his drive right, towards the number 5 fairway. It rolls off the fairway and towards some down trees. We think "no problem, we'll just locate the ball and hit it back over to number 6", no problem, right?! As we're looking for the ball (no more than 20 seconds), THE SAME GUY FROM LAST TIME comes over and, once again, extremely aggressively tells us that we can't even continue to LOOK for our ball because these "holes are closed and we should have NEVER been here in the first place." ....Look, we get it, the holes are closed, but we were just over there looking for our ball to hit it back to number 6...we were NOT playing that hole. It was extremely frustrating for our entire group. If he would have been cool and understanding, it would have been no problem. But don't be like that....you're no better than we are and we're the people helping pay your salary.
Overall, the course was in good shape, but the staff is the worst golf experience in Dayton Ohio I have ever experienced. If you play there, please be advised of this. There are other public courses that are in exactly the same shape but the staff is much nicer and will make your overall experience much, much more enjoyable.
I hope this helps with any future decisions. Hit...
Β Β Β Read moreEven if you feel like you are getting a good del for this venue PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT DO IT! BOT WORTH THE TIME AGGRAVATION AND INCONVENIENCE! Complete lack of professionalism, from not returning phone calls and emails in a timely manner, to discussing details of the planning and financial transactions of the party planners with the guests! Adrian was a complete nightmare to work with. The first day we came to see the venue...he was so accommodating. Every interaction with him after he got us to sign for the venue was like pulling teeth. Getting him to respond to emails about anything in a timely manner was a joke. He gave us conflicting information than other workers, and even conflicting information from what was on the printed documents that he provided us with. On the day of our event he was no where to be found! When it was 40 minutes before the food was supposed to be served and guests were already arriving there were bare tables where tables skirts and dressed tables should have been. We had to go find him! Overall we made our day successful because we could already see that he was not going to be reliable. But if we had relied on him we would have been screwed. He even took it upon himself to cut the amount of food that he provided for a 60 person party to 30 servings without notifying anyone. Totally unprofessional! Had he not hidden from the problems that were being called to his attention he could have had even more money than he ended up with. He tried to pressure us into spending under the guise of wanting us to have enough food for the guests, but had no idea how many guests were attending. As our night was concluding, one would think that he would have come and offered boxes to take the rest of the food that had been paid for, or that after taking a percentage in gratuity that someone could have walked through and checked on the trash or that the food at the bar had not completely run out...no he was sitting at the bar with a young lady. Glad he has his priorities straight. Maybe if you are having a big wedding he might put more effort into making your event special, but if he can not be trusted with small events I shudder to think of how he handles...
Β Β Β Read moreI've been a member here for many years and I would say I'm just as happy with the golf and other amenities as ever. The golf course is in great shape! The greens are fast and undulating, thanks to Mark and the whole ground crew. The pro shop is professionally run and staffed by pro Bill and assistant pro Mark. They'll do everything they can to make your golf round an experience to remember. The restaurant is great and I would say that the hamburgers are among the best in Dayton. My wife loves the Friday night special of fried shrimp. The manager J.R. will make sure all your needs are met with a smile. People book parties here all the time and I'm sure I'll be doing the same for my upcoming birthday. So anyway, I love this place and I'm sure you will too. Come out for a visit and...
