My family & I stopped in on a recent trip to Georgia. The parking is beyond terrible - we sat in line waiting to park for 9 minutes. Once we were in the entrance of the lot, there was no way to back out or go around. When we finally parked & entered the stand, I purchased a bucket of peaches & my sister & brother-in-law purchased 5 dozen ears of corn, a box of tomatoes & a 50 pound bag of cabbage. Overall, the produce was rather disappointing. I used most of my peaches to make a pie & it was flavorless. I was shocked! I tried the cabbage when my brother-in-law made it. It tasted great, but my brother-in-law said several times while cooking it that it was still tough & he ended up cooking it quite a bit longer than he is accustomed to cooking cabbage. My sister made stuffed cabbage with it & the cabbage was inedible. She told me she was mortified because they had company that night. She's made stuffed cabbage a thousand times & boiled the leaves as always. It was just tough cabbage! The corn was also not the best. My brother-in-law specifically asked if it was sweet corn & was assured it was. It wasn't!!! The kernels were unusually small & there was no sweetness to it at all. They earned the second star because the box of tomatoes was phenomenal!! They were a natural red color, but hard as baseballs. I was leery at first, but one taste & all fears were alleviated. They were juicy & delicious & had an abnormally long shelf life - nearly 3 weeks before any started to go bad. If I were to return to this market, I would only purchase those tomatoes, but being from Tennessee, it's not likely I'll be...
Read more3 star only because I have been going there for years and had received good produce. But the past 3 years something has changed. I went 2 weeks ago and found the place poorly stocked, disheveled, the help sweeping up to a customers feet making him move, the cabbage heads cracked ( nearly all of them) and the worst tomatoes I have ever purchased. They use to have the best, sweetest, tendered skin. I suspect these were from Florida but the hispanic help said they were grown near there. Having driven around, the only produce I saw was cabbage, which was terribly dry and bitter even when cooked. The apples were baseball sized at best. I had stopped at Jaemoor Farms on the way up from Atlanta. The apples and tomatoes were similiarly priced but they were gorgeous and large. I always drive up to Osage in the Fall. I think this will be my last visit, and Jaemoor is much closer. Sorry to say Osage has changed and not...
Read moreI have purchased apples and other produce from Osage Farm Market place in Rabun Gap for about the past 10 years. Had a huge desire to make apple sauce so traveled over three hours to purchase a bushel of apples from a place I really enjoyed visiting. Upon arriving saw the various types of apples stacked in bushel boxes. Each stack had three full boxes each and the fourth box on top was where customers were pulling from to purchase apples by the pound. When I asked to purchase a bushel of apples the only response was âwe donât do thatâ. Another customer also asked one of the staff about purchasing a bushel and received the same response from the member although this staff member acted like they would want to be doing anything else except answering the question. Needless to say that is the last time I will visit...
