The off-road trail from Chimney Mountain Road to the top of Tray Mountain is closed and has been closed for years. If you want to go to the top of Tray mountain, you must go up Tray Mountain Road. Then come down Indian grave gap Road or Corbin Creek Road. A sedan can make it to the top if you go up Corbin Creek road in dry conditions, but your car will probably hate you. Clearance and AWD is recommended. Do not take a sedan up Tray mountain road. It will not make it without sustaining damage.

The top is an amazing place to park and walk about 30 minutes north on the AT to see the views. Lots of dispersed camping on...

Didn’t expect the gravel road to be as rough as it was but regardless of the road access route you choose, it will necessitate a vehicle with some ground clearance and preferably 4x4. Once you’ve reached the trailhead, the 2.5 mile hike is moderately strenuous with several nice areas to stop along the way.

If you’re here during March or April, thru-hiker travel will be heavy, so be sure to yield to them. The views on the top are worth the hike on a clear day, but there isn’t much space to sit and picnic until you go a bit beyond the peak to...

We had it in 4wd acouple times were there was a mud hole in the road. Otherwise all you need is ground clearance for some of the rocks...

Tray mountain was the first "off-road" place I have ever been to in my life. Just got this stock forester a month prior. Got some nice rock damage and some incredible stories. 100/10 recommend going here it's absolutely beautiful, and if you have actual ground clearance you can enjoy all for be trails!
