Our group came from a neighboring state specifically for disc golf in the Twin Cities area. The Preserve was a must play on our list and I hate to say that it was a huge letdown.
We were expecting to play there all day to hit each course layout available. Unfortunately, only the Black Bear was open. While it was fun to attempt the challenge of the tournament level layout, we left with fewer discs than we started with. Also, signage was terrible for Black Bear. Only way we were able to navigate was thanks to UDisc.
For being a Disc Golf Preserve, and charging $10 to play, it would have been nice if all courses (or at least the regular layouts) were open. Also, apart from the shipping containers for discs and to pay for your round, the only amenity was one porta potty. Not even trash cans. Also, I've seen people mention the Tavern for food and drinks. No idea where this would have been, because there was absolutely nothing on property but the two shipping containers to make the pro shop. Food and drink would have been appreciated.
Overall, just getting out to play was great. I was just expecting more from a Golf Course turned Disc Golf Preserve created by a pro player. Not worth the $10 just to play one layout and inevitably lose discs if you're not a pro. Too bad. I was really looking forward...
Read moreWas honestly dissapointed, for such a top course we had to use Udisc to find every hole and got corrected 3 times. Absolutely awful signage no guidance at all. Also is pay to play but just has a slot in a wall to throw cash but what if you dont have cash, we were there during the listed operating hours of the pro shop and it was closed. So couldnt pay to play, felt bad about that, needed to send someone to town to use an ATM. Lost 5 discs all signed with numbers. All of them float discs that were in middle of pond. Made a round after our game and checked every piece of water, all discs gone, never recieved a phone call or text. Not the courses fault but also dissapointing as i saw nothing talking about the returs of discs posted at any locations, other courses like blue ribbon have multiple drop areas for discs, and multiple signs at their water zones prohibiting taking discs. Water hazards themselves are extremely unaccessible and surrounded by huge patches of thistles. Felt like a golf course with disc baskets on it. Did not feel like it was designed for...
Read moreThis has fast become my very favorite disc golf destination! This summer they opened the Tavern at the Preserve - and the food and service was fantastic. Cale Laviska (owner and proprietor) is doing an amazing job with this place!
** Original review:
This is a destination disc golf course for sure! The big sweeping lines and fairways provide plenty of room to air out some drives, while offering many high risk-high reward shots!
The course is among the best cared for Disc golf courses out there, and as a new piece of Disc Gold property it is clear that the best is yet to come for this property!
Also it has a great little pro shop (with some sweet Preserve stamp discs) and knowledgeable and friendly staff. Thanks to Hutch for sharing your passion for the sport and this course with us.
I highly recommend...
