This entire project was a joke from the start! The neighborhood was sold the dream of a smaller version of the West Side Market but only received a high-priced grocery store, with a very limited selection of items. If you went inside the place, there is no way this cost $7,000,000, we know that $900,000 went towards a contractors gambling habits (that he stole from NEON, Google “Embezzlement Arthur Fayne”). This place is not making money and you can walk past on any given day, even holidays, and it’s only 5, mo more than 10 cars in the parking lot (and no one inside). The CEO makes $500K a year, which will probably come from that $2,000,000 that Council just gave them. Jeff Johnson spearheaded the building of this place and Kevin Conwell has stayed silent about it (it is in his ward), while contractors continue to mismanage the place, get FREE taxpayer money, and continue to pay high prices. The News station interviewed one guy outside the place who said good things, but maybe he was one of the 5 cars in the lot. I challenge anyone reading this to go in and check the prices, look in the parking lot, and inside the store, and that should indicate that the community is not benefiting from this place. It’s now being funded to save face, and not have Council and Frankie look like complete idiots, because it’s not what it appears or was sold to the community as. This place is a joke. The NESM should be sold to Daves or even some Middle Easterners and it will be better equipped and with better prices. They should just give the food away free, since taxpayers are paying for it anyway. I wonder how much wastage do they have in this place? Because no one...
Read moreFirst of all I want to say I'm grateful that there is a shopping market available for the community, however I'm not pleased with the selection I feel for the community the prices do not reflect the residents of the community again grateful for the grocery store at the Eastside Market I would love to see it revamped and catered properly to the community Financially . Basically the prices are too high when you compare it to other grocery stores the selections are not that grand or great and it could be that they're just trying to open up and get organized. as far as fresh food and things of that nature I give them an A for effort perhaps they can survey a few of the residents in the community and ask them what they would like for a grocery store The customer in the community.... I just feel that the prices are a little too high as well as the selections are not that great go back to the table and just kind of cross check or look at some examples of other grocery store chains and see what they're offering their residents and I think you'll do much better with a few of the residence surveys and just basically you know going and checking out other different stores and seeing what's working best for for them. A food market is sorely needed in this community and you have the right location it just needs a little help to make it better I wish...
Read moreI rediscovered a well kept secret 3 days ago on Cleveland's East Side. The Eastside Market which is under new management The customer service was great. I was one of very few customers. The store was organized and well stocked. The music was upbeat.Everything was high tech. The prices seemed a little above average. I saw a couple of things that seemed slightly pass freshness. I contribute that to growing pains. There was delicious aroma of fresh baked goods throughout the store. Apparently they have a breakfast menu during the day. The restroom was clean. The area needs more shoppers to keep it going.
I have been to the Westside Market and this market also has alot of potential. I have decided to shop here instead of Prime Meats down town, Save a lot or Aldi's in order to helpsave this treasure. They really need to g et people in the door to get people in the doors. There is an area that I really Land escaping and some repair to the masonry...
