Harvest for the Hungry, Inc. — Local services in Clute

Had the opportunity to spend time with Mr. David, the President of the organization, while planting some Chinese spinach plants that will be used in an efficient and innovative hydroponics farm on the pond. He is a great and friendly guy who is accompanied by great volunteers and staff who made sure to keep us energized with foods and drinks throughout our day long stay.

I also had the opportunity to interact with Ethan, the farm manager, who is well oriented regarding the farm and the tasks at hand there. He provided us gloves, water, and masks as we cleaned out the chicken coop on the farm. He was also generous enough to let us feed the chickens and interact with them as we carried out our duties. He knows what he is doing.

Thank you Harvest For The Hungry for giving me this opportunity to volunteer on the farm. And thank you for educating the public. I intend to come back a few times...

Harvest for the Hungry is both a fantastic charity and a wonderful adventure. There are activities such as educational tours, soap making, cooking classes, and fishing tournaments -- more for fun and learning how to fish. There is also a small bungalow and a large house on the farm that can be rented for family and corporate events. Look on their website under the events tab to learn more. Now for the main purpose of this 60 acre farm: producing fresh fruit, vegetables, honey and eggs-- most of which is donated to local food banks that otherwise would have only mostly canned and boxed foods. The young doctor who volunteers most of his free time here has an story to share of how he was inspired...

I was asked to help with Harvest For the Hungry fundraiser Event, by Mr. David Huang. This was my 1st time to get an indepth look at this organization and learn about their mission for our area. What a GREAT endeavor it was, fulfilling to say the least, not to mention the ones that profit from their works, that may be less fortunate and the help in assuring they get quality vegetables & fruits that are much needed. I enjoyed myself so much, and being able to help with this 501C organization. If you, or your group is able to stop in & help them in any way I have NO doubt they would more than welcome you with open arms and appreciate the help going forward.
