The location is AMAZING and it's obvious that the ownership really cares about making this a new destination for big racing for the race teams and the fans, but they are going through significant growing pains.
It was obvious that these are asphalt guys trying to learn how to prep and care for dirt on the fly. Their first big race was a disaster as they never even got a hot lap for any of the classes before being forced to call the race (with refunds so HUGE props for owning up to that!). They started prepping the track way too late in the day and basically destroyed it (and some of their equipment) in their haste to try to salvage the race.
The team I was with really hope they get it together because the layout and location of the track is very promising and we want to be part of it, but they need to bring in some experts to get them over the hump before they tarnish their image before they get a chance to establish themselves.

Read moreKingsport track is alot better in my opinion they have cheaper food & more entertainment, but that also means more people. The track seats are broken & (concrete) covered with a fiberglass strip on the edge which is loose and causes people to trip & fall, we seen 2 different kids & 1 adult trip on it while there. We went just for the derby, which ended up not starting until everything else (other races) had finished (10:30 or so) we were disappointed that there were only 3 cars in the so called"derby", which was a wetspot on the track at the finish line.. Most of the night consisted of hearing every other word the announcer said which was due to audio issues (he did alot of talking), and also the "fans" (customers- reg ppl) could pay $20 to race on the track (at your own risk), winner received $50 (that was kinda cool but it ended up taking up more time than the "real" races & derby). The race track has potential, in time with effort, it...
Read moreAwesome track. They did a street car race which was fun to see! ($20 dollar entry fee, winner takes $100 I believe) I would have participated just to be on the track, but I didn't bring my car. Concession was cheap. ($10 bucks fed my 2 kids and me) and with it being a local track, they were not afraid to bump or trade paint. I would go every month if I lived closer (4 hr drive for me) but I do plan on bringing my kids at least once a year in the summer.
My parents used to bring me in the 90's as a kid. This past weekend I brought my parents along with my kids as well. Things were exactly as I...
