CDA Food Bank — Local services in Coeur d'Alene

OMG!!;. A+++++ Food bank!!!! The have always been there keeping me and family with food, hygiene, utility assistance and more!! The daily staff, paid and volunteers are always gracious, kind, helpful and amazing hard workers dedicated to making sure the center is stocked with food for the needy population in the CDA area! Has to be a hard position dealing with the various people that go to the center daily. They always have smiles, are helpful, and they always make me feel welcome when I go every week. The shelves are full of fresh produce, fruits, veggies, dry goods, milk, and so much more!! Always a variety, fresh milk. Meats, bakery goods, hygiene and more. Made possible by the generosity of local grocery stores, restaurants and citizens who donated goods to our food bank daily. The staff is pretty friendly, considering their work load and hours they work. The fruits and vegetables aren't very fresh because they get the food from the stores once they get too old so yes, you have to look at them and when home, immediately deal with the fresh fruits and veggies to take out the bad. No biggie! It's free! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! I go through berries immediately and then either make preserves or use them up in a jiffy. Canned goods are currently not available or very sparse because the stores prefer to sell them cheaper instead of giving them away I guess. The only thing I would suggest is that the website would post closures. It's a 35 mile drive for me round trip and a huge disappointment to find out that...
