I'm from Washington and brought my three year old Boston Terrier to be boarded at the Coeur d'Alene Pet Resort over Thanksgiving while visiting family, which was a total of three days.
Likes: I thought the check-in process was fairly quick (I did fill out the online form and e-mail a copy of his shot records beforehand). The receptionist seemed friendly and upbeat. The lobby appeared to be very clean and tidy.
Dislikes: I was turned off by the fact I was not offered a tour of the facility OR asked if I wanted to help get my dog situated where he would be sleeping. The building is huge, which leads me to believe there is a lot of playing room. However, when you enter the door everything is closed off except the lobby area. Further, when I initially made the reservation, I was only quoted $20/night for boarding and during check-out I noticed it was an additional $10/day for daycare. I also did not like how their receipt included a "tip" section. When I picked him up they gave me back my bag and remaining dog food but I had to ask for his blanket and dog toy with his name clearly labeled on it. He slept the whole way home and the first two days (which was to be expected as he was hopefully playing his entire stay). I later found out it was mostly because he has been sick with kennel cough and has thrown up a total of six times. The second pile of vomit was purely a 6"x3" stuffing strip, as if he at the bedding they provided (which he has NEVER ate anything odd in his entire three years of life). I could understand if he was experiencing nervousness/separation anxiety, but the fact it was never mentioned to me was really disheartening.
I've had him back in my possession for four full days now and will be taking him to the vet and contacting the Coeur d'Alene Pet Resort if his symptoms persist.
I'm hoping this was just a case of "bad luck" and do not plan on boarding my dog here...
Read moreOur 2 dogs have stayed here twice, first time 4 months ago, which seemed like a good experience and most recently last month, which was quite concerning..... we picked up our dogs, after a 4 night stay, when we arrived the staff seemed extremely surprised to see us and said they weren't expecting us until the evening, which seemed really odd, there just seemed to be some weird attitudes going on, quiet......we loaded our dogs into our car and had to go back inside for our bag of dog food which was clearly labeled with their names and a dog blanket that appeared to have not been used at all.....both dogs were extremely lethargic, I mean EXTREMELY. They remained this way for about the next 24-32 hours. One of our dogs was also puking for the next 24 hours. We called back the office to ask if anything had happened that we should know about and if they may have given our dogs some kind of sedation meds or anything else besides their food that we provided, but they claim to not know a thing. To this day, we still feel like some information was not shared with us. If you sedated our dogs for a good reason fine, tell us. Our gut tells us something wasn't right. Our dogs are 11 and 12 years old, we know our dogs. They were different when we picked them up and remained different for the following 48 hours. We will not be taking our dogs back to this place and negative experiences travel just as fast through the community as...
Read moreWe have given this place a few tries, but definitely done after today. I have a 1 year old golden retriever who is the sweetest girl. I received a call today, however, saying that i needed to leave work and come and pick her up, after she had been there just 2 hours. Their exact words were, ‘..she is wanting to play with all the dogs and they are just not wanting to play with her.. she is being really nice and sweet, but she is over stimulated.’ If they are not equipped to deal with a ‘nice and sweet’ dog, I feel like they should not be responsible for anyone’s pets.. After calling a few other doggie daycares in the area and explaining what happened.. they each said that that is literally m what dog daycares are for; to manage various dogs and their activity levels. Just not the same place with the new owners, unfortunately. I had also previously tried them for an overnight boarding, right after ownership changed. They handed her back to me completely SOAKED in urine and she looked miserable.. and they acted like this was just perfectly fine/ normal procedure. I decided to never take her back for an overnight stay, but thought she would be cared for during the day. I would absolutely not recommend this...
