
I joined a few months ago, great customer service; loved the layout and student membership option. I was never giving any copy or record of my forms or membership, which I thought was weird. Never received any copy of terms of membership outside of what I read the day I signed up. I went for about 3 months, probably less than 20 times overall and as the weather warmed I went less and less. For the last 3 months I haven't used my membership and kept forgetting to go in and cancel, entirely my fault. I went in last week and asked to cancel, didn't ask for a refund for any months not used, nothing. I knew I wouldn't be using it next month either and asked if I canceled that day if I would be charged for next month's. The girl assured me I would not be and gave me a form to sign. As I looked over the form it wanted initials next to a piece that said something about a 30 day cancelation notice. I asked the girl if I initialed next to it if she was sure I would not be charged for next month’s. She again assured me that since I paid for this month’s I would not be charged again and we had a detailed conversation about how I could still come in for the rest of this month because I had paid for it, but I would not be able to in July. This morning I received a call from a lady at Fuel Fitness telling me my membership was cancelled, but because I did not give the 30 day notice in time I would still be charged for next month. I was floored that I had had such a long conversation this with one employee, just to be told the opposite by another. She was adamant that that was the process, the girl was wrong, and that I initialed next to it acknowledging it. Even though she knew I was upset there was no offer to help me with this further, just accept it and get off the phone. Like I said, I never received any material on my membership to take with me. There was no way for me to know I needed to cancel 30 days before my next payment outside of the information I was told in person the day of. It was not conveyed to me and I signed a form with misinformation. I had put on my form that even though I was cancelling I would recommend Fuel to people and would think of coming back in the future. This is no longer the case. Read moreAfter hitting a plateau going to Planet Fitness and with encouragement from my brother to go to a “real gym” I visited Fuel Fitness. I did a “free trial” and went a few times with my brother. Then I get an email about their Black Friday special and bought a year membership. I have made more gains in the last month working out there than I have the previous 6 months at Planet. The selection of equipment there is phenomenal! Chad the manager greeted me by name on my second visit and I had never met him before. He always asks how I am doing and goes out of his way to make people feel comfortable at Fuel. Today I came in after work and then after realizing I didn’t throw shorts in my bag I was headed home and he asked how I was as I was about to leave and I told him I forgot my shorts, he asked what size I was and then grabbed me a pair of their Fuel Nike shorts. That was going above and beyond when he didn’t have to. He is doing an amazing job and definitely understands how to manage take care of the customer. I was charged late fees after signing up for automatic payments even after the lady told me it said it was automatic on my account... makes no sense? Also my son was put on for automatic payments and his got taken off as well. Another issue I had was when I scanned my membership card a completely different account showed up, some girl named Jennifer. I feel like they have a lot of improving to do. The staff are all very friendly but one. She’s lucky I don’t remember her name just that she’s thicker then the rest.
