**Glad to see so many others posted the pictures I forgot to take attesting to my observation. The rude, condescending, and caddy response from the owner shows how this place is run. I am guessing the person is triggered because I'm a reseller, but I am also a disabled combat veteran and love to support non-profits and donate portions of my earnings to organizations supporting veterans. I keep my profit margins moderate so I can survive, but also help people along the way as I can not work a traditional 9-5 because of my disabilities from service. An entire year since my review and the one-stars for prices just keep coming, paired with "owner" responses that try and diminish and discredit the customer. Red flag 🚩🚩
Will not return or recommend. My mom was the district manager for two very successful thrift stores in Spokane for over 20 years, one a non-profit supporting multiple local charities and organizations like St. Vincent. I worked in the donation department and priced items for the floor for 6 years and currently run my own resale business. That being said, this is by far one of the most expensive thrift stores I've ever been to (Value Village is first).
Worn out Nike shoes with literal holes in them and no laces $40. Children's Nike shoes with deep wear creases, stains, and chipping material $15. Guess high heels in very used condition $30. Phone chargers that can be purchased at the dollar store $6+. Formal dresses with stains, missing embellishments, etc. $60+.
The list could go on and on, but I'll leave it with those examples. Those are not even reasonable prices on a half-off day. Donations are free and usually given with the intention of giving back to those in need. I know if I walked in and saw my old Nike running shoes being sold for $40, I would be disgusted. Please do more research on brands and pricing for current times... The Guess heels were an old design and can be purchased new for less than the $30 being asked for them in this store. Brand new Nike running shoes can be purchased for less than $40 at certain stores and online. Blame inflation all you want, but as someone with inside knowledge of how a thrift store runs and currently is running my own successful resale business as well as managed multi-million dollar restaurants in this same economy, I just can't in good faith recommend this place. Other stores pay for their inventory...yours is given to you for free. Unless the inflation went to employees being paid $20 an hour, there is only so much that excuse can cover for a thrift store. I spend hundreds monthly at thrift stores around Washington/Idaho and have been in over 50 locations, with this one being the top three highest priced. Remember folks, roating inventory that is being sold at high volumes vs. inventory sitting in trucks and on shelves because of being overpriced is what helps the...
Read moreI came here despite reading the reviews. I was expecting higher prices and could appreciate the companies response that they price a little higher but give back to the community. I was not expecting to see worn jeans for $30, used dresses with missing waist ties for $79.99, and the staff to be so rude. I get that some places may price higher and give back to the community but I never could have imagined seeing higher than new in store items prices at the thrift when they get it all for free. They had an off brand fast fashion baja hoodie that had wear priced at $15 with a note on the tag saying how it was “funky”. It felt like they were trying to convince themselves that the pricing could be justified when really I couldn’t see it, but maybe it’s just me.
While I was browsing the clothes (trying to find something under $15) I was appalled to see another customers check out experience unfold. A man was purchasing a bicycle at the register when an additional employee walked up from behind him and very loudly asked if it was his bike he said yes and before he could say anything else the staff member cut him off and started nagging that he couldn’t have the bike inside and how customers must leave bikes outside why would he bring it in. He looked dumbfounded and stated he was purchasing it from the store which is why it was inside - because it was their merchandise that he was paying for. The cashier never once made a peep. After I watched that unfold I made my way through the rest of the store.
I will say the store is massive with tons of product, so you’re bound to find something it just might not be in your thrift shopping price range.
Housewares were more appropriately priced in my opinion. I found a couple goodies and when it was my turn to check out I had asked the cashier if they had any discounts or specials because I know a lot of stores do certain days are certain discounts or certain tag colors are whatever. Immediately the cashier became defensive and told me they couldn’t tell me I’d have to ask. So I asked if they have a student or military discount or do a tag color sale. They then told me they couldn’t offer that, that I have to request it. I was so confused because they said I had to ask but wouldn’t tell me when I asked but told me I have to request it. They kept telling me I have to tell them what discount I want but I kept saying I have never visited their store before and don’t know what they offer. Eventually they just told me when I began getting irritated. It just seemed like a giant hassle and confusing why they would have deals or discounts if they don’t want to offer or honor them.
Honestly, I won’t be back to this store but will continue visiting other St Vinnies in other towns when traveling as I’ve never had an experience like this at a St Vinnies before so it must’ve just been...
Read moreI have been donating and shopping there for years but they just lost a long time customer. I recently went in to find a bed. I had a bad experience. I waited in line for a while which I didn't mind but I when I get to speak to worker to get a ticket for box spring and mattress I was told to wait and they will send someone back to pick which one I wanted. I went back to spot where they were to wait and no one came. I went back to line to wait again. I get there and just said I would like to get the bed. The woman said ok what size. I said my size neeed and asked if they can deliver. I was told they quit that service. She told me I would have to have it picked up that day. That put a damper on the sale. I now would have to get someone to help haul it. I told her I would be back. I came back next day with friend and truck to get the bed. I walked in and seen it was a 50% off day. I thought great even better. I go back wait in line and say I would like to buy a bed. The woman said ok asked what size needed. I told her. I found out they were out of my size and set I wanted. I was told they had new sets for twice the price I had to spend. I thought no biggie with 50% of I could still make it work. The woman wrote the ticket and I walked up to front to pay. That's when I was told no discount. I said wait the sign says 50% off the entire store. The bed set is in this store. I asked to speak to manager. They pushed me to the side and I waited. Finally I seen this person who asked if I'd like the bed set or not. I explained I would if I get the discount. I was told unfortunately they will go fix their signs because only the new mattresses are excluded. After arguing a while my friend was like just pay for the bed. She lent me the rest of the money to get the bed and we left. This store is way over priced for their things and they will not negotiate. Even when they are in the wrong. I drove by the store the other day and I did notice they at least fixed thier sign out front. It said 50% off entire store excluding...
