It's an amazing mountain pass!!! It's easy to navigate, good road, a couple steep grades ... It is a mountain pass. Views are incredible !! Very senic, and there's a narrow gage steam train. I spent 138 consecutive nights above that pass. Very interesting area. As far as Forest Service lands are concerned , this has almost no traffic when one compares it to the forest around Glenwood springs, Co. And alot more water. Many creeks with fish in them. As far as mountain passes go ,and I've seen a good many of them because my work is at 10-11.5 thousand feet above sea level, this is the most senic for the least effort and scare factor. Great trip in the fall to see all the colors. The train is super cool. The engineer lets you see inside the engine to check out his space. You stop half way through for lunch. It’s buffet style and good. Well...
