This review is intended to be constructive criticism and not just to be negative. I have been riding dirt bikes for many years and this review reflects not only my experiences but also all of my many riding buddies. I really appreciate that someone has taken the effort to construct a dirt bike riding track, as there are not that many in our area, and more places to ride are very welcome. However, this place has so much potential that is unfortunately wasted. None of my riding buddies, who are all very experienced cross country and MX riders and racers want to come here. Just compare how many riders use this track vs RAM Offroad or Aztec Family Raceway. RAM and Aztec are very crowded with riders every weekend and even on weekdays. When I go to Dragonman's, I am often the only rider and rarely see even a handful of other riders. I am surprised that Mel hasn't noticed this and asked riders about why this is. So let me offer some reasons why.
Never in my life have we been treated so poorly and unprofessional, if there were an option for zero stars that is exactly what this company deserves. This company already had awful reviews online but I decided to try it myself due to location convenience. I made a reservation a week prior for my husband and his friends for his birthday celebration, they told me when I made the reservation and when they called to confirm my reservation that their hours were until 4:30pm, only to have my husband and about 15 other guys be told they only had until 3:45! Never was that time given over the phone, I then call to inquire because that was not at all what I was told, the incredibly unprofessional and immature daughter of the owner answers "hello!" I asked if I even called Dragonmans, she said "yep!" I then explained to her the misunderstanding and that I was not informed of 3:45p being the time and if they could please honor the original time given, she hands over the phone to the owner (as I hear her yelling and using very poor language regarding myself in the background) I say "does she work for you? And if so she really cannot be talking to your customers that way" he says "yep what's up?!" I'm already in shocked that a "business" owner is speaking to a paying customer in this manner! After a very rude and hateful conversation from HIM, I get a phone call from my husband to find out the daughter was intensely talking very badly about me, he tells her "um I'm right here you cannot talk about my wife like that in front of me" only to have another unprofessional gentleman jump in and start verbally attacking my husband and kicked them out of their facility! I'm am completely in shock at the way this place is ran and amount of dysfunction in this place! They have no business being in the service industry not working with the public, clearly they have no etiquette nor any sense of professionalism. I will never recommend this...
Read moreAfter calling a few times and being assured that I didn't need tickets, that all I need to do is show up, I booked tickets and flew from Indiana to visit this museum. Eight people showed up and Dragonman himself popped in and said something to the effect of "I don't run tours unless there are at least 10 people. If more don't show up we'll cancel. This is our last tour this year but you're welcome to show back up next year." Nobody else showed up but thankfully two other employees ran us through the tour anyway. Not a great start but off we went.
As a collector, let me come right out and say it: his warehouses have no temperature and humidity control and brown "barn patina" covered everything. Dragonman has far more than he can care for and it shows. If you're a casual onlooker perhaps it's not a big deal but to me my heart sank at every turn. It feels less like a museum and more like a hoarder who has employees who can cram whatever Mel buys in a display. Lost are small details about why a particular piece is important or interesting. It's more like you're walking through a warehouse. Our tour guides did their best to point a few things out but it's a guided tour so there's no sticking around to closely observe anything and certainly no placards beyond a few that will list year, make, model or something to that effect.
If you're a firearms guy save your money and pass on this museum or whatever it is supposed to be. I recommend checking out Cody's Firearms museum. Hours even days can be spent learning and you will support a museum who puts preservation and education front and center, not entertainment.
One last thing, as a US Marine GWOT vet, I found their framed pictures of dead insurgents disgusting, tasteless, and unnecessary. It has zero educational value- just shock and awe. I think this best summarizes my tour to Dragonman's: cheap, tasteless,...
