This review is intended to be constructive criticism and not just to be negative. I have been riding dirt bikes for many years and this review reflects not only my experiences but also all of my many riding buddies. I really appreciate that someone has taken the effort to construct a dirt bike riding track, as there are not that many in our area, and more places to ride are very welcome. However, this place has so much potential that is unfortunately wasted. None of my riding buddies, who are all very experienced cross country and MX riders and racers want to come here. Just compare how many riders use this track vs RAM Offroad or Aztec Family Raceway. RAM and Aztec are very crowded with riders every weekend and even on weekdays. When I go to Dragonman's, I am often the only rider and rarely see even a handful of other riders. I am surprised that Mel hasn't noticed this and asked riders about why this is. So let me offer some reasons why.

  1. The jump designs on the tracks are all wrong and some are flat out DANGEROUS. Obviously the person who designed the jumps doesn't understand MX jump design and safety. Building MX jumps is a science, and involves much more than just piling up dirt with a tractor. Riding at even a moderate speed ensures that you will overshoot almost all the jumps, and have a very hard and dangerous landing. The designer doesn't understand the concept of a tabletop (or a double, step-up, step-down, etc.), which is the primary foundation of safe MX jump design. There are jumps with very steep faces that will launch you high in the air with no landing ramp, making for a very rough and dangerous landing. Everyone I have discussed this with at the track has the same opinion on this and it keeps riders away.
  2. There is little to no track maintenance at all. Weed growth and blown debris and tumbleweeds frequently clog the track. There is no grooming or maintenance of the surface, and it has become terribly rutted and packed hard as concrete in most areas, which is again a safety issue, besides not being enjoyable to ride on. Many jumps and berms have become eroded over time with gullies and ruts, and rocks. Why go to all the effort of building a track and not provide even a moderate amount of maintenance?? All this is such a shame, as this could really be an excellent track if it was designed properly and maintained. There's no reason that this couldn't be a premier riding area if attention was paid to these issues. I really hope that you will take this as constructive criticism as I would like to see the track become a popular, safe and fun place to ride. Thank you for your...

Never in my life have we been treated so poorly and unprofessional, if there were an option for zero stars that is exactly what this company deserves. This company already had awful reviews online but I decided to try it myself due to location convenience. I made a reservation a week prior for my husband and his friends for his birthday celebration, they told me when I made the reservation and when they called to confirm my reservation that their hours were until 4:30pm, only to have my husband and about 15 other guys be told they only had until 3:45! Never was that time given over the phone, I then call to inquire because that was not at all what I was told, the incredibly unprofessional and immature daughter of the owner answers "hello!" I asked if I even called Dragonmans, she said "yep!" I then explained to her the misunderstanding and that I was not informed of 3:45p being the time and if they could please honor the original time given, she hands over the phone to the owner (as I hear her yelling and using very poor language regarding myself in the background) I say "does she work for you? And if so she really cannot be talking to your customers that way" he says "yep what's up?!" I'm already in shocked that a "business" owner is speaking to a paying customer in this manner! After a very rude and hateful conversation from HIM, I get a phone call from my husband to find out the daughter was intensely talking very badly about me, he tells her "um I'm right here you cannot talk about my wife like that in front of me" only to have another unprofessional gentleman jump in and start verbally attacking my husband and kicked them out of their facility! I'm am completely in shock at the way this place is ran and amount of dysfunction in this place! They have no business being in the service industry not working with the public, clearly they have no etiquette nor any sense of professionalism. I will never recommend this...

After calling a few times and being assured that I didn't need tickets, that all I need to do is show up, I booked tickets and flew from Indiana to visit this museum. Eight people showed up and Dragonman himself popped in and said something to the effect of "I don't run tours unless there are at least 10 people. If more don't show up we'll cancel. This is our last tour this year but you're welcome to show back up next year." Nobody else showed up but thankfully two other employees ran us through the tour anyway. Not a great start but off we went.

As a collector, let me come right out and say it: his warehouses have no temperature and humidity control and brown "barn patina" covered everything. Dragonman has far more than he can care for and it shows. If you're a casual onlooker perhaps it's not a big deal but to me my heart sank at every turn. It feels less like a museum and more like a hoarder who has employees who can cram whatever Mel buys in a display. Lost are small details about why a particular piece is important or interesting. It's more like you're walking through a warehouse. Our tour guides did their best to point a few things out but it's a guided tour so there's no sticking around to closely observe anything and certainly no placards beyond a few that will list year, make, model or something to that effect.

If you're a firearms guy save your money and pass on this museum or whatever it is supposed to be. I recommend checking out Cody's Firearms museum. Hours even days can be spent learning and you will support a museum who puts preservation and education front and center, not entertainment.

One last thing, as a US Marine GWOT vet, I found their framed pictures of dead insurgents disgusting, tasteless, and unnecessary. It has zero educational value- just shock and awe. I think this best summarizes my tour to Dragonman's: cheap, tasteless,...

I have never seen a Military Museum that comes close to this one!! This is a privately owned Museum which has most of the Wars represented starting with the Civil War. Each section represents a particular war with Manikins dressed in original uniforms, original firearms with the original ammunition along with all the paraphernalia. Not just showing the US side but also the the soldiers and equipment that were fought against!! This Museum also has the trucks, Mash units, Half tracks, jeeps, Tank and so much more to see. Just when you think you're at the end of the tour there's more rooms full of antiques from the 1940's & 1950's. Old gas station pumps, signs and if you liked Elvis, you'll enjoy seeing this section. There's also a gun store when you first walk in that is well stocked. They had guns that I've never seen before but I'm not a gun expert by a long shot. They also have a shooting range, dirt bike track and probably some other things that I forgot. The only way you can go through the museum is with a tour. They don't want people just walking around in the museum on their own which after going on the tour myself I can certainly understand. Your safety is their number one goal !!! Please look them up and get their tour schedule or if you don't want to see the museum they have the gun shop and other things available.

Walked up at the perfect time on a Saturday morning and made the tour. Didn't get to finish it due to other arrangements. But what we did see made me and my wife excited to go back for the rest of the tour. Mel was a great guy and extremely knowledgeable about everything he has. Looking forward to some of those machine videos we talked about

Dragonman's is a great and affordable gun range. The military museum was unfortunately closed during our visit, so this review only reflects the range and our gun rental experience. I removed a star in my rating because the (non fully auto) rental options are fairly limited; a few handguns, AK-47s, AR-15s, and maybe a couple shotguns. Also, the AK-47 we rented failed to feed multiple times. I didn't give it a close inspection but the most experienced shooter in our group believes it was due to poor cleaning practices. Also, the ability to shoot full-auto weapons is a great option but be prepared to pay for the treat as ammo alone is $100 for 100 rounds, even for just the 5.56 (AR-15). The range safety officer runs a tight ship as you'd expect...which is appreciated. Also, Melissa is helpful in seeing what they can order if you're interested in purchasing a gun they don't currently have in stock. They also have various souvenirs for sale including mugs, hats, and t-shirts. They also have paintball equipment for rent for their multiple paintball ranges, and also a dirt bike track. A really neat place overall. I hope to come back with my son and visit the military museum as I've seen clips on YouTube and it seems awesome.
