What a wonderful day my wife and I had. We live in Bennett Colorado, and the day we traveled to pole Creek, the Denver daytime temp was 99°+ and the Mountain temp was in the low eighties. This was one of the reasons we chose to play here. All reviews seemed to be good to great. So we booked it and decided to make a day of it. We left our home at 9 am with traffic in Denver and up I70 and Highway 40 we arrived at the course right around 11:30am. We got to the course a bit early for a 2 12pm tee time, but with construction in multiple areas of both highways, I figured it would be better to give myself time. This was great because we were able to go to the restaurant and get a nice lunch, and also gave us sufficient time to warm up on the driving range/ chipping area/ putting green. Pole Creek is a 27-hole course with 3 individual 9-hole courses. We got to play the Ridge and the Medow. Beautiful views everywhere tou looked. We saw a Deer on the Driving range, a fox around hole 6 on the ridge. On our second nine (meadow), it rained for about 10 minutes and was great it really made the wonderful fresh mountain air come to life with a new pine smell and a great fresh earth smell. I found to be what I thought was the most difficult hole on either 9. #7 on Meadow. This is a par 5 with a double dog leg to the left. In your first shot, you have to carry a large fairway bunker with a 190 carry with a 234 run out area downhill. (I suggest you don't try to cut the corner on the left side. Instead, play to either carry the bunker or right of the bunker.) Next, your second shot depends on how far you can carry your ball. The shot is uphill, and you have a water hazard to carry. I played a layup as I tried to cut the corner and bounced off the trees into the rough near the bunker. I played to the fairway, just short of the pond. Still had 205 yards to the center of the green with a big uphill shot. Took a 3 iron and put it on the green. I will definitely recommend this course to everyone, and it will definitely go down as some of my best golfing memories. It's worth the drive and the money. Best total golf experience we have ever had. Thank you to the Pole Creek staff and greens crew. You guys are doing a great job. Can't wait to come back and play the Ranch in a...
Read moreWas very excited to play the course and it did not disappoint! We made reservations and requested rental clubs as we were traveling from Chicago and Hawaii. Upon arrival they let us know that they did not have rental clubs which was requested at our online reservation. The Club Pro JT tried to throw together a set of random clubs but as an experience golfer paying $100 per round and very happy to pay for nice rentals I was not very happy at this solution. They ended up finding us a set of women's club and men's club (not a big deal as we were playing a scramble as we had a beginner golfer with us and wanted to make sure we didn't hold up the pace of play). We proceeded to go to the range which provided free balls and the Club Pro JT decided to let our group know "The driver is a new club and if you dent it you pay for it". I am assuming this was directed at the beginner golfer that was with us that was hitting balls for the third time in his life. He wanted to play with me after watching The Open this weekend and I was trying to make him feel comfortable prior to hitting the course. I thought as a PGA Professional there was a better way to go about this comment and encourage a young golfer than this but apparently this is the leader of the staff on the golf course.
I was extremely impressed with the course and extremely unimpressed with the staff and the attitude they had at customers trying to experience the course. Wish it was a better experience and would highly recommend that if you want to rent clubs to call, email and text the request...
Read moreOverall, a mediocre experience at Pole Creek, which I’m bummed about as I was really looking forward to playing for the first time. Aside from the surrounding beauty I found the overall conditions just okay… lots of spotty fairways… the sand traps were absolutely retched. Several of us (all decent players) skulled every bunker shot because there was basically no soft sand, just hard pan. For some reason several tee boxes were muddy as well when the rest of the course was dry. I was looking forward to a nice warm up session on the range only to be told it was closing in 15 mins at 2pm? Course management was not existent… taking a solid 2:40 to play the front nine behind an absolutely unqualified group of golfers ahead of us. I ended up leaving after 9 holes due to the overall experience. There are several courses in Denver that charge the same amount that...
