Special purchase of rare to find Strellman’s lighthouse lens cut ring for my daughter. From a very happy and grateful out-of-state customer:
The “ring story” goes back to Stowe VT where my family spends a few days of skiing vacation every year. We saw green spinel Strellman's ring in white gold there about 10 years ago. My daughter liked it a lot, but we were not able to buy it for her back then. Few years later she was in Stowe skiing with her friends and her fiancee (now her husband). She just started working that year and this beautiful ring was out of her budget. She did not buy it, but never stopped liking it :)
A couple of years ago my husband and I visited the same store in Stowe VT where they used to have Strellman's ring my daughter liked so much, and the ring was gone, they also said they stopped carrying Strellman's jewelry, and they missed seeing this beauty at their store. The store is selling beautiful gifts made by local and other artists, including jewelry pieces. We checked all jewelry stores in town (there are just two there in fact in this tiny beautiful town of Stowe) - they have never heard of Strellman's jewelry at all.
Now my daughter is a mother of three, and the idea to gift her with Strellman's ring she liked for so long came up when she was expecting her third baby who is 4 months old now. This is when I started looking for Strellman's green spinel ring online to realize that things got changed a lot with the company making this kind of rings a great rarity.
I placed an order for sterling silver green spinel Strellman's ring with jewelry store in North Carolina back in March, but Strellman's kept delaying their orders due to the stones supply.
I kept looking and checking for this kind of ring and it was my lucky day when Kyle responded to my email confirming they had a ring I was looking for for so long! This was right before Thanksgiving and Kyle kindly agreed to ship the ring to Maryland overnight. It was already the end of the day, and only 20 minutes was left before the closing of UPS store. This special ring arrived next mooring and it will make a great surprise present to my daughter on Thanksgiving Day!
Many thanks to Tracy and Kyle for making my gift making experience so...
Read moreI rarely post reviews but I would want this information if I was needing jewelry fixed again. In August, the center diamond on my engagement ring came out. My husband had taken my ring here a few years ago when on of the side brackets had come loose so I brought it by with the loose diamond.
The woman I spoke with said it probably needs to be remade and went over to the jeweler to ask. He said from across the room “it’s really old, right?” “Only 17 years.” I said. “Do you sleep with it on?” He asked. “Yes, I rarely take it off” I replied. Like sleeping in it was the reason why it came loose.
Then they said the prongs couldn’t be remade, it would need to be completely remade, and it would cost at least $1200 to melt it down and remake it so I might want to put it against my insurance, and now was a good time to think about adding stones or redesigning it. I asked if they were sure (since I didn’t really want to remake the one my husband picked out for me) they confirmed that it would just keep breaking and falling out if they tried, so I took it home to talk with my husband.
A friend knew a jeweler downtown so I decided to take it there for a second opinion. When I came in they warmly welcomed me, didn’t make me feel bad about sleeping with my ring on, and told me they could remake all the prongs (12 total) for less than $400! I even verified that this wouldn’t be a fix that I would have to come in again for more loose or broken ones and they confirmed that it would be fine to fix it and just added that I could even come in to have it checked once a year for loose stones since my square cut sits up higher and catches on towels or gets knocked a bit more. Even though we had bought the ring from Mieirottos in KC so it wasn’t even one they had made. I am so thankful I went for a...
Read moreThis review is long overdue, but KT’s is where I bought my wife’s engagement ring! Of course, buying an engagement ring is pretty expensive, so I didn’t just stop here. I interviewed three local jewelers to see who I thought would be the best fit to help me find my wife’s dream ring.
The first local place I went put the hard sale on me and tried to make the whole thing an “experience” and ended by saying I should put a down payment on a diamond that day because they were the only people in town with access to cuts like that.
The second place I went didn’t seem to care about my business and just wanted to sell me a diamond. There was no real help, just a couple options and they made it seem like finding more was tough.
KT’s is different. I walked in randomly and Kyle spent quite a bit of time teaching me all about the different grade/clarity options for diamonds. There weren’t any fancy selling points in the process, just education to help me feel confident when choosing a diamond. After this process, he showed me a few “in-house” options, but said we could do better. Then ordered in 5-6 options to look at. They were great, but I didn’t quite see “the one”, and Kyle had no problem finding me more options to look at. In this next group of diamonds, the perfect one showed up! Kyle then helped me design the ring, placed the diamond and sold me the ring!
Fast forward 2.5 years and my wife’s ring had a little damage from day to day use. We dropped it off today and Kyle is getting it fixed for an incredibly reasonable cost!
My wife and I will continue referring...
