This is peaceful place to fish in the fall and early spring. At certain locations in the summer the river can get badly crowded with pleasure boats that cause heavy wakes on a rather narrow river in some places that make fishing difficult.
The stretch between Ft Gaines and Columbia is very remote and in many cases, if you have boat trouble, you are in for a long walk, paddle, or wait. Fortunately the cellular service (Verizon) is excellent, so you can call for assistance should trouble arrive.

Despite all that I love it Go kayaking and walk along the river walk .. You might even consider doing a little ghost hunting there I'm quite sure there are many down there due to the history of both phenix city and Columbus ..
