Sew Crazy — Local services in Columbus

I have been into the store twice. The staff is always friendly but this feels like a very niche store for quitting and embroidery. It's more of a sewing machine dealer versus a sewing /fabric shop. You can't go in without trying to get talked into buying at 7-10k sewing / embroidery machine. They do have some patterns and projects but they are definitely focused on an older clientele. Table runners and quilted wall hangings make up a lot of the kits they have, I'm 27 and personally would not put something like that in my home. The selection of fabric was lack luster many similar prints that are dated or just plain. They did have a few cute ones. I want to like and use this store so badly I'm sure I could learn so much from the people there. There is just nothing there for younger beginners with basic machines. They have lessons on their machines in the hopes you will buy one. It's just not helpful to the next generation trying...

Purchased my Designer Ruby in October 2018. Took it in for it's annual service in 2019, no problem. Took it back in Oct. 2020 and was told I couldn't just drop it off would have to be put on a wait list and they would call. "Oh, did I buy it there?" Yes. Two months later, still no call. I called, first question was, "Did you buy it here?" Yes. "We'll put you at the top of the list." No call. I called again in January. "Well, you could bring it in but it will be a few weeks. Did you buy it here?" I chose to keep my machine and wait for the call. You know what? I'm still waiting. Actually, I'm not waiting as I will never go there again…..One hour after posting this review, I received a call saying they had been trying to reach me since October! Amazing! That call got through but none of the others had? And no one told me to bring it in the other times I called and messaged? I’m not fooled. And I’m not...

I was looking to learn something new this year. I have lived in Columbus my entire life and never knew about this shop until I was referred. Sew Crazy's Beginner's Sewing Class was exactly what I needed. The small group evening class worked perfect with my schedule. Anne (sp?), Angie, and Tim were great! I was able to purchase all the goodies needed from a wide selection of fabric, right there in house, and was provided the support needed to make my crazy ideas come to life! I look forward to more classes here in the future as I grow with my new machine, also purchased here!
