Get rid of the manager of the store. He does not belong in customer service. Make the gentleman I believe he is the front manager manager of that store it will make a huge difference. He is an awesome guy he is cheerful he smiles he's polite
Please exercise caution when purchasing produce.
On two separate occasions, I have encountered spoiled watermelons. In the most recent instance, I decided to return the defective product.
The produce manager asserted that there was nothing amiss with the watermelon, which was demonstrably incorrect.
He then stated that it is impossible to ascertain the quality of a watermelon without slicing it open, which is accurate. However, the store's practice of storing watermelons in the refrigerator and subsequently displaying them at room temperature is problematic.
It is my understanding that all of the produce is stored in the refrigerator and then placed at room temperature for display. The front end manager is an exceptional employee who consistently demonstrates a high level of helpfulness and professionalism. In my opinion, he would be an excellent candidate for the position of store manager.
The store manager requires additional training in customer service and communication. When I attempted to explain the situation, he disregarded me and spoke to the produce manager instead. This behavior is unacceptable and needs to be addressed to ensure a positive customer experience. The manager asked me, "How do you think watermelons get shipped?" I told him, "At room temperature." He said, "Correct." Then I said, "Yeah, you're right, but you're storing them in the fridge and then putting them out on the floor."
The store manager muttered something as he walked away to speak with the produce manager. The produce manager informed me that he would issue a refund, but I explained that the issue was not solely about the refund. I stated that I would no longer purchase produce from this establishment due to the poor customer service I had experienced. I emphasized that the manager's abrupt departure without addressing my concerns was particularly disappointing, especially considering his managerial position.
I called a produce store and asked if watermelons should be stored in the refrigerator and then taken out to room temperature. They advised against this. While it is true that produce stays fresher in the refrigerator, once it is removed, it should be consumed promptly. If there are leftovers, they should be placed back in the refrigerator. Leaving food at room temperature is not recommended.
As a new store, this situation is undesirable.
The store manager should be reassigned to a non-customer-facing role, and the front-end manager should be promoted to store manager.
I am gonna add another review on Oct 12 2024 Market Basket needs a new manager. I went in there today they always give kids out the stickers and they'll make them look like Mickey Mouse whatever. One of the cashiers gave my son one and the little bagger said oh you're not supposed to give those out because they're the paid stickers and the cashier was like says who and she was like management. And the cashier was like I don't really care. We've been doing this forever and I looked at them and I said my son gets these all the time in the bagger says well they're not supposed to. And I said well you know what you can tell management that they can shove it. I'm going to say this again the manager that is in charge of that store sucks. There is a gentleman I believe he has the front and manager he is very happy cheerful awesome person he should be made manager...
Read moreGreat store. Love the place. Love the convenience of having a Market Basket in my back yard... Most of the employees are great. However.... there are some that hold positions that they shouldn't have.. 2 departments that seem to have this problem are the Deli and the Kitchen. The Deli has gotten better lately.... The Kitchen seems to need some help. The Pizza is horrible. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza one day and the guy gave me a 45 minute wait. I show up exactly 40 minutes later and pick up my pizza. (I live within a 2 minute car ride to my house from there) I get home and my pizza is lukewarm and stale and hard as a brick. It was like someone took a pizza that didn't sell the previous day and heated it in the oven for about 5 minutes just to make a quick sale and get me out of his hair. The fried chicken.. don't even get me started. They NEVER seem to have fried chicken. When asked why we've gotten an assortment of random answers. When I've asked other stores and managers as to why they say that they always have it at their stores. Only seems logical that the only reasons why is because the people in charge of the fried chicken are lazy. As a former employee, I get it... place gets busy. But come on... do your damn job. When we did get chicken it was decent but the breasts were all rib bones and they were dry. Do better. Other than that, no complaints. Store is clean and well stocked. Produce department is beautiful! Dairy is well kept and the meat department and its personel are always helpful...
Read moreWarning watch when they weigh your produce. I got overcharged for 1.5 pounds of apples. She put it in 3 rimes as there were 3 kids of apples all the same price. But she was not smart enough to weigh each apple and totaled 4.5 pounds. The front desk did refund my money. But how many people overpay?
I wi watch them in future weeks and restore the stars if they improve, but they should not be overcharging the scale items.
Original review below: The new Penacook location is great. The store is larger than the Concord locations and takes some getting used to, but I like not having to go to Concord for groceries, I can stay right here in Penacook and save time driving.
They don't carry several items that I can get at Hannaford supermarket and so I still need to visit there for those items. I have reached out both local and corporate, but they don't reply about carrying those items I want. Still no reply months later.
The wing bar is incredibly slow as they put people getting sandwiches with the people just buying quick items like wings. Just let people grab and go like Hannaford and Shaws as there is never enough staff at...
