There Stahlstown Flax Scutching Festival mixes small town charm with solid education about life in the past. I've seen many demonstrations about all kinds of things, but the Stahlstown flax-to-linen demonstration has been the best. In addition to the flax, they have delicious food, locally made crafts, and an incredibly reasonable $4 entrance fee.

I go every year I can't for the buckwheat pancakes and sausage. Def splurge for extra sausage. There are lots of artisanal craft booths, historic demonstrations, hayrides for the kids, fresh pressed cider, gristmill, honey... don't miss it.

We much enjoyed seeing things of yesteryear and all is the old fashioned items of furniture, flea market, country music, buckwheat cakes with real Maple syrup and all kinds of crafts a place well worth going to it is only 2 days a year

Annual traditional fair with demonstrations of old-fashioned scutching, which is the first step in producing linen. Food booths feature buckwheat pancakes, soups, barbeque and burgers. There's always a display of antique farm machines and a few local crafts people sell their wares. There is always a fee to enter and park on the grounds. This year it was ...

My family has been going to the Flax Scutching for 80+ years. Although it is a nice old festival it is just that OLD. We were very disappointed in the indian raid last year. I would ask the local school's drama club teacher if they would give the kids extra credit to participate. Needs some new along with the old to keep...
