Welcome to my new series for February: 28 Days of Pennsylvania hikes! I have done a lot of hikes in Pennsylvania since I began hiking 2 years ago, so I’ll spend the month of February sharing some of my favorites all over the state. I figured I would start with the hike that got me started on this hiking addiction, my very first hike I did back in the fall of 2022: The Wolf Rocks trail in the Laurel Highlands of SW PA. This is a 4.3 loop with moderate difficulty due to the rocky terrain. The trail will bring you to a sandstone outcrop overlooking the Linn Run valley and Chestnut Ridge. I’ve never done a sunset hike here, but I e heard it’s fantastic. Just be prepared with headlamps for the hike back to your car. Combine with: Beam Rocks, Spruce Flats Bog, and Linn Run State Park. Stop at the Pie Shoppe in Laughlintown for a treat afterwards. 🤩 Have you hiked the Wolf Rocks trail? Stay tuned for hike #2. Let me know in the comments what other hikes you’d like me to share. 😍 #hikingpa #visitpa #laurelhighlands #forbesstateforest #wolfrocks #laurelsummit

Gorgeous view and so peaceful. The wolf rock trail and loop are pretty easy trails, very well marked and easy to follow. Beautiful scenery and vegetation. The rocks are flat and perfect to rest and enjoy the silence. There are rattlesnake in this particular area because of the large rocks so be cautious especially if you have a puppy or kids with you. There is a large parking lot at the trailhead with bathrooms and picnic tables. The trails aren't busy and we've encountered only a couple more hikers. Highly recommended.

This overlook takes a good, long walk to get to. The walk affords a view along the way, if you wander a bit off the path, and includes an abundance of mountain laurel. The overlook is lovely, with a steep dropoff in a few spots. It looks like you could scramble up here from the roadside if you wanted to take a short and dirty route.

Just go. It's an easy 2 mile walk out or 3 if you take the loop trail. The view is impeccable and depending on your level of comfort and ability you can do some scampering around on the rocks. There's plenty to explore at the top and it's great to get a look down at the canopy and floor below. As long as you don't have a problem with...
