I joined after buying 10 weeks of personal training with Scott in May. I really enjoyed the massive variety of equipment, especially in the outdoor/CrossFit area. You can’t find equipment or sleds anywhere else in town, and I was excited to continue the workouts he tailored for me on my own. Another selling point was they had a tanning bed, hydromassage, sauna, and (they said soon) a cold plunge! On top of that there was a women’s only room and hardly ANY bodies there most of the time! I prefer the quiet to the insanity and loud music (which can still hear over my own in my headphones) of planet fitness, for only $5 more per month. The staff is incredibly nice to boot.
However, after a few months of working out there I’ve encountered some very serious issues which have me regretting signing that year contract. First thing I noticed was that when the summer heat came, the AC barely works. I mean BARELY. I even brought an outdoor thermometer just to see if I was being a wimp, but nope. It was SO HOT in there I could barely workout, and the women’s room was at least 10°-15° hotter than the rest of the gym. I’m talking well over 85° and humid INSIDE, rendering the entire building useless to me from June-August. Wasted a whole summer of dues while the temperature was too high to workout mid day, so I just didn’t go in. Second thing I noticed was how filthy it was, especially in the tanning bed area. The bed itself where you lay down was clean enough (I assume due to the members cleaning it themselves) but floor surrounding it has a thick layer of grime and dust. I didn’t even want to put my dirty gym clothes on the ground. Perhaps they mop the floors occasionally, but I don’t know when because the it’s the dirtiest gym I’ve ever seen. Now I understand the outdoor area being dirty, and the equipment dusty. I don’t care about that, and I’m not a germaphobe at all. But one look at the floors and walls inside and you’ll see what I mean. Thankfully the shower and toilet in the women’s room aren’t too bad, so I’ll give them that, but there is NO reason for any business to be that filthy, especially post covid. This is old grime, you can clearly see that. Hire a cleaner. Can’t afford one? Well sir or madam, perhaps spend some hours in there yourself doing a deep clean, then your staff can keep it so from there. 3rd issue is that while they are open 24/7 to members, you can not use the tanning bed or hydrobed unless they are staffed, which are frequently aren’t. I’ve been there 3 times in the middle of the day when not a single staff member was there to start the bed, and use of the tanning is a huge selling feature to me. I was not made aware of that, as every other gym I’ve ever joined (and I have many) let you use the beds 24/7 as well. I was willing to overlook the dirt, but now I can’t even use the that dirty bed in the middle of the day when I come in?
Again, there are many things about this gym I like, the staff is super cool and so knowledgeable. But the lack of good AC, layers of old grime, and not being able to use the beds when I want mid-day has made me seriously regret signing that year long contract. The money I’ve wasted alone on not being able to work out there in the summer heat is a...
Read moreConstantly improving. An old raquetball gym has been turned into an amazing workout environment. The sauna is amazing. Rarely too crowded. Ownership and staff are all high quality people. I enjoy my time there and dread my time away. I am on a work internship in Florida and have been gone less than a week and I am depressed missing Fitness Master. The local Workout Anytime here is nothing in comparison to the community at FM. I have gotten the highest quality workouts of my career completed at FM. They work with their customers and aren't looking to steal from your pockets. Best locally owned gym...
Read moreKind of a janky looking gym but they have plenty of machines in different rooms, a women's only room, and the women's bathroom was SO NICE.
Update: everything here is usually really nice. My only complaint is that there are constantly men going into the women's room. This is a single room in the entire building where women can go without having to feel stared at or uncomfortable. There is a sign that says it's the womens room and men still choose to go in there. I think this is something that needs to...
