Bill Bachmann came to our house to set-up a grandfather clock that we received as a present. Bill is one of the nicest people we ever met and his professionalism and knowledge are truly amazing. He started by opening the big carton box that the clock was shipped in, he removed it from the box and gave advise for the best place to set it at. Then he methodically started removing all the packing materials that kept delicate parts from moving during shipping and at every step of the way he provided an explanation about the mechanism, the sound generation, the night-day settings etc. which was a truly interesting learning experience. He patiently answered all our questions and was happy to make any final adjustments that we asked for pertaining to balancing the clock, set the right time (this is a mechanical clock so it is not obvious how to set AM and PM), adjust the weights at slightly different height to give some interest, set up the moon phases and much more, truly an amazing experience for us. I found Bill Bachman of Kew Gardens Jewelers after searching authorized Howard Miller clock repairs. I couldn't be happier with his craftsmanship & business style. My clock was given to me as a gift by my cousins last year after my dear Uncle & G-dfather passed away at 93 years old. My Uncle was the brother of my Dad who passed away at 54 when I was just 24 years old. When the clock first made it into my house and I heard it chime I was reminded of both my Uncle and my Dad. I was disheartened when the chimes stopped working. Bill described the battery problem by phone diagnosed corrosion, etc. and offered to assist. After I brought the clock to Bill he offered two means to repair movement at two cost scenarios and was super helpful, informative and kind. Clock was repaired perfectly. When I heard it chime again I immediately thought of my Dad & Uncle. When daylight savings occurred (a short few days later) Bill was immediately available to help with an answer on winding forward. It’s clear that you take great pride in your work and taking care of your clients’ needs in a professional and honest manner doing a high quality job. Unfortunately these qualities did not stay ingrained in your son John who essentially ripped me and my family off for $25,000 and destroyed my home in the process. He takes no responsibility for his actions nor did he plan to rectify his blatantly gross negligence in ruining my home and causing us great anxiety.
