The course is fun, decently maintained, and the rates are about as low as it gets. So why so many open tee times? Why is this course so empty when everything else around is full up? Spoiler: It's because the employees running the clubhouse are more interested in starting petty fights with customers than they are welcoming people in and getting them onto the course.
We were running a few minutes later than normal and only arrived at the clubhouse a few minutes before our tee time. Still plenty of time to check in, get to the first tee, and tee off on time. We found the clubhouse empty and waited for 5 minutes before managing to find someone outside to help us pay and get checked in. He informed us we were late for our tee time. I told him we had been on time and were waiting in the empty clubhouse. He revealed he saw us come in and decided to make us wait because were "weren't early enough" and then seemed to be entirely interested in escalating an argument rather than getting us checked in and out to the tee. I was completely shocked and in hindsight regret not getting a refund and leaving.
Go play Albion Ridges instead. It's a better course and their employees aren't looking for a fight when you're just trying to play a...
Read moreOver the years I drive up to Whispering Pines from the Twin Cities to golf a couple rounds a year. The course has seen many improvements over the last several years. However, on my recent trip last weekend I was surprised to find out that they were not enforcing mask requirements in the clubhouse. Golfers, as well as employees, including who I assume is the owner, were not wearing masks. I had a mask on and the person behind the counter continually and impatiently told me he could not hear me. In an earlier Google review when someone called out the golf course for the lack of masks, the golf course replied with what I thought were very snarky comments. It's obvious to me that they do not take this pandemic seriously. I will not be going back up to Whispering Pines to golf again until Covid is over. Every other golf course I have been to this year has taken the pandemic seriously and required masks in the clubhouse. It's not that hard to...
Read moreI don't recall the original course designer that made this former pasture & tillable agricultural land into a golf course, but I and thousands of others are profoundly greatful for the effort and vision. This course was built as a 9 hole course and served it's purpose well for several years before being expanded to an 18 hole course about 20? years ago. Some re-design and improvements over the years has made this course one of the premier golf courses in the Annandale/Maple Lake area. The expansion of the clubhouse and patio area has really added a country club feel to a charming piece of land. The course lays out as a challenge to the average golfer and probably an easier course for a low handicap golfer. There is a numerous mix of many mature trees on the course and each adds natural beauty to the course. The current owner continues to invest in improving...
