To simply list the facilities: the theater is analogue in both projection and sound; the sound seems to be limited to stereo (2-channel); all seats are classic stadium with no headrests, and elevation between rows is not enough to compensate for theater goers over six feet in height from blocking part of the screen from viewers sitting behind them. An oddity of the theaters resides in the decorative canvases attached to the walls of each screening. The reflect enough light to be distracting during movies, which seems contradictory to the mentality of an immersive movie experience that most theaters aim for. Concessions are, as with all theaters, overpriced. But for move theater concessions prices they are more reasonable than most cinemas. Cleanliness is good, ticketing is painless without long waits, the lobby is large enough for people to walk through and has some arcade games for the kids to be entertained by. The theater does not lack in the areas of staffing or hospitality. Theaters come in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. Habersham Hills is a simple multiplex theater, has smaller screens comparitively to metropolitan theaters, and adds a home-town country flavor to the typical Hollywood cinema outlet. For those who have little access to mainstream media and live away from suburban or urban life, this theater will suit just fine and offers a bargain price for people wanting to see mainstream films. Movie connoisseurs, those used to digital theaters, and individuals who like an immersive movie experience will be dissapointed with the lack-luster facilites, but might find some recompense by way of the cheap tickets. This is not a theater made for showing the latest high budget Hollywood action-adventure film in full glory or in 3D (the theater is not equipped for either), but rather offers a cheap way to see the basic...
Read moreThis is such a great theater, especially since they made improvements to their auditoriums several years ago. I didn't realize how good this theater was until my wife and I decided to see a movie while we were at the Mall of Georgia in Buford fairly recently. We paid double the price at that theater, and the experience was so much worse. The seats, soft with a little give in Habersham, were much better - better enough that I would have paid more for the Habersham tickets even if the two theaters were standing side by side. The projection and sound also seemed better, but it's hard to compare those without experiencing the theaters consecutively. You can tell that they've worked hard to create a quality theater experience for people in this area. I remember travelling to Buford when I was dating because there wasn't a better option in this area and the Gainesville theater wasn't very good. It's great to have a superior theater right here at home. I only wish that they had more screens and more showtimes.
We are members of their free loyalty club. We only go to the movies every couple of months (sometimes less), but there are seven of us, so we frequently end up with enough points to cover a free concessions item and sometimes a free ticket. They also give a free popcorn on my birthday. The employees don't really push the club at the register, so make sure that you...
Read moreHad a good time. Popcorn was fresh and everything was clean. We watched thunderbolts which is the new marvel movie. It was a great movie and loved it but everyone knows that marvel movies have after credit scenes.
We stayed for the after credit scene but before it came on the lights in the theatre were turned on which was very distracting. No one wants to watch a movie scene with lights on. I wasn't even going to say anything about it but on the way out of the theatre a manager was present asking people how the experience was. Since he asked I told him about the lights issue. Instead of just defusing and trying to fix the problem he tried to justify it by saying the lights are preprogrammed (which means they can be reprogrammed). He then began to question me about what lights came on.. were they round lights or the big rectangle ones? I honestly don't know..it was lights that came on before the movie was officially over. The manager did nothing but gaslight me into thinking I was wrong for being upset about lights being on during the movie. Very...
