I like the store but it seems every 2nd or 3rd visit I have a terrible experience. I keep wanting to give the store a chance and Sunday was the last straw for me. I don't know if I want to give any more chances. I had purchased a rainsheet and a saddle pad, spent almost $200 on Wednesday evening, great sales associate, helpful. I asked about the return policy and she said, no problem just try to keep the stuff as clean as possible. The rainsheet made my horse sweat terribly, the outside was rainproof but the interior was soaked after only a couple of hours. I brought it back on Sunday -the cashier Kelsey immediately said that I could not return it. She turned to another girl who also said "No, we do not allow returns if used" I explained to the 2 of them my conversation from Wednesday night so they decided eventually to contact a manager-who apparently said yes. The cashier, Kelsey, very grudgingly completed the transaction. I told her that I had intended to shop for something else but that I sure didn't feel like it after this! No comment and no nothing....I walked out feeling pretty upset and without a rain jacket for my horse. Several months ago I brought back a 1/2 bag of grain that was moldy and chunky.....I keep my grain in a barrel so it does not get wet but I was given a hard time about that. The manager immediately intervened and gave me a fresh bag of grain. I can thankfully say that my horse did not get sick! Not very long ago I came in to buy some rice bran. The cashier charged me over $100 and I told her that could not be right, I had bought it before. She insisted it was and I left without my rice bran. I worked in retail for about 18 years mostly in management and I cannot understand the inconsistencies and the lack of customer service at this store! It's pretty close for me and I like the store setup but Wilco isn't that much...
Read moreExperienced chicken owner and emergency vet tech here to tell you you should avoid buying chickens from Coastal Farm & Ranch. I purchased 15 birds yesterday afternoon and within 16 hours one became lethargic, began having bloody diarrhea, and died. A second is now also suffering from bloody diarrhea. When I returned to Coastal to pick up medicated feed for the likely case of coccidiosis, I requested a replacement for my now dead chick and was informed that there is a no return policy on (ironically) live animals.
Unfortunately, the staff member continued on to say that all of the animals for sale are "healthy." When they have a sick bird, they retain it in the back, where staff nurses it and then it is returned to the sale brooder. There are two huge problems with this: 1. staff is handling sick animals and then boxing up animals from the sale brooders, exposing naive chicks to pathogens; 2. the sick animals that have been nursed are then put out to be sold, despite the fact that they are quite possibly still shedding the contagion.
Both chicks and staff are vectors for disease. I do not know if this is intended to minimize profit loss or if well-intentioned people simply do not understand how communicable disease spreads. Either way... Buy...
Read moreI went in to purchase a blade for my lawnmower today and everything went smoothly even met up with someone I know so I was in a good mood. Till I got to the check stand and was waiting in line. Keep in mind, I'm mexican and have a slight tan . I waited in line like I usually do for every purchase I've made for the 42 years of my life so I think I know what I'm doing by now. There was 2 registers on one side and the person in front of me was finishing up their purchase and this jazzy cashier thought it would be a great idea and skip me to help the lady in back of me who was also Caucasian and when I brought it to her attention and said I was next she ignored me and I made sure she heard me even the other cashier just smirked because she couldn't believe how her co-worker was acting. Its sad that we're in 2023 and slight racial jabs are still accruing. Luckily my 7 year old didn't catch it and I also didn't want to push the issue because that cashier that I won't name was pregnant hopefully her kid grows up to be better and no one has to feel uncomfortable going into any establishment. Costal has to do a better screening of attitude and take the incidents like...
