3-15-24 update. I like this course. It was founded as a Country Club in 1927 by Randolph Scott and frequented by several other Hollywood stars of the time. Management seems to have a balancing challenge between income and expenses. The greens and fairways are fairly well maintained. But the gophers and ground squirrels make their bumpy ground presence be known in several areas off the main fairways and remediation needs improvement. One sees a fair number of the squirls, some cotton tail rabbits and the occasional coyote. All bunkers have been abandoned and are basically dirt/grass depressions. Some are designated ground under repair.
The holes are varied and most are challenging. The fairways on TWO holes are fairly flat. All the rest have up, down elevation challenges, left or right slope contour considerations, or in a few cases,, all of the above. Plus #2 & 12 have a small swamp directly in front of the tee. Number 4, 5, and 8 have a tiny creek that can't be ignored. Having found some of the local flat courses a little boring,, I like the diversity. Of note, Par 4 #16 has most of the above plus a significant 2 axis sloped green. You definitely want to land below and to the left of the usual pin location. If it is a down hill putt and you barely kiss the ball and miss, it is not unusual to end up 10-20 feet below the pin. Par 3, #17, feels like it is 100 feet above the green which is not that large. I particularly like the fact that early in the morning it is not very crowded. Add to that a current Green fee of $35 for seniors including cart and you have quite a deal!
A minor Plus, two holes give you a panoramic view of the city of Corona and the surrounding mountains. Unless you are proud of your physical fitness state, you might consider paying for a cart the first time you play the course.
The parking lot is adequate. The size of the clubhouse is modest but pleasant. For example, the men's room has two urinals but only one toilet. There is a driving range that may have you revising your carry and rollout distance as it has a significant up hill slope. The club house has a hot food grill with a fair menu and serves beer. Having played a number of rounds at another course that recently up graded there fleet of carts to the "Clubcar"Tempo Lithium-Ion Carts, Cresta Verde's lead acid battery powered carts feel old and tired. But at $15,000+ apiece for those new carts, I too would have to think twice about spending a million or...
Read moreI recently came here to play on the morning of the 4th of July expecting a pleasant time as I come here frequently. A golfer in my group was relatively new to the game and is left handed so we needed to rent clubs for him. To my surprise, they charged him $40 for an incomplete set of clubs. I didn’t think much of it until after the round was finished so I decided to talk to someone in charge to ask the reason for such a high price. As the manager was coming over immediately she says, “did the clubs make you play bad out there?” Which I thought was a joke but she was completely serious. I asked for the reason as to why the rental clubs were so expensive, 2/3rds of the price of a round! She explained that they don’t have clubs for rent and that they just throw clubs together but still charge a large amount? She was extremely passive aggressive and rude to the both of us making snide remarks constantly. The set of rental clubs had two putters and two 4 irons with no clubs for mid range applications. After I mentioned this she proceeded to brag that she played in a women’s tournament with only 4 clubs and then offered a free Gatorade to which I declined. I ended up getting a partial refund to which she was hesitant to do at first. I was extremely disappointed because I frequently come here but I don’t think I will be anymore after...
Read moreMy own MAIN FAMILY HOUSE is actually seating "ON" this Golf Course. It's a very special and unique experience to live on a GOLF COURSE FOR SURE!.
THE 180° AWESOME VIEW from the MASTER SUITE and from the entire back of the house is very relaxing, enjoyable, and breathtaken.
It has it's "ups n downs" living on this Golf Course, as everything in life. The "up side", the "COUNTLESS" golf balls landing into our pool n jacuzzi, and everywhichplace in the front, back n side of our PROPERTY. Also, we can play golf for free anytime we feel like it. It's very secure, because all gates are locked before dark.
The "down side", though, golf balls hitting and braking our kitchen window several times, as well as the side of the house windows upstairs, and twice the windshild of one of our car parked on the driveway.
Very seldom we get pay for damages if we catch the responsible golfer. Golf Course Owner DOESN'T pay for any damages we have suffered, throughout the yrs, tho...
