After having golfed in my younger years, my adult son and I developed an interest in playing together. But we both needed a solid start, so we did a search and landed on Mark Moore, Director of Instruction at Eagle Glen Golf Club, with 35+ years of teaching experience. Sounded promising. I contacted Mark, made an appointment for 1000 on a Wednesday morning, and we eagerly awaited the day. Mark's message: "Come directly to the driving range the day of the lesson. I will be teaching next to a grey canopy." He got my phone number and that was that.
Arriving at Eagle Glen Golf Club at about 0950, it was not apparent where the driving range was. We went to the pro shop to ask. A young man walked past us, and I asked, "Excuse me, do you work here?" "Yeah," was his dismissive reply as he walked away.
We headed out and finally found a sign pointing us to the driving range. It was 1000, not a soul was there, and no sign of a grey canopy. An area was roped off and marked "professional lessons only," so we camped out there. By 1015 no one had shown up, and Mark hadn't called. I called the club, and a lady told me she would tell Mark we were waiting for him. 5 or 10 minutes later, a guy came by on a golf cart and told us "Mark is set up down on the chipping range," pointing past the driving range about 200-300 yards away. Didn't offer to give us a ride, just drove off.
After lugging our clubs to the area Mark was set up (now about 1030-ish), we saw it was completely secluded with zero signage indicating where a couple of new students could find him. But keeping our best faces on, we walked up and silently waited for his attention, since he was already working with two other students. Mark noticed us, introduced himself, said he was running late himself, and gave us a bucket of balls saying, "I'll be with you guys in a little while. Why don't you go over there and do a little chipping?"
Beginning to feel put off, but still hoping for the best, we did as he suggested, all the while he worked with the other two students. After 10 or 15 minutes of this, we picked up the balls and told Mark the truth, which was that my son had an appointment at 1130 and we had to go. His response: "OK. Sorry about that, guys."
Wrap-up: If you're going to make an appointment, KEEP IT. If you can't keep it, and you have your client's phone number, USE IT. If you're inviting new students to a place that might be difficult to find, USE SIGNS OR BETTER INSTRUCTIONS. And if you mess all that up and can't deliver on the service you're being paid for, offer something more than "sorry" to...
Read moreMy now husband and I have done so much research in trying to find the perfect wedding venue for our wedding this past October. I was set on another venue prior but I am so happy my husband changed my mind! He found this venue off searching on Google and we made an appointment to meet up with the manager of the venue, Raul. I don't know about you all, but I have never met someone who is so happy and eager ALL OF THE TIME. Keep in mind, we booked our venue about 1-2 years before our wedding date, so we've always kept in touch with Raul (whether it be texting or through email). Raul is one of the most delightful people to be around. He is ALWAYS happy and ALWAYS positive no matter what. I also appreciated all the happy faces he responds to us with through email and text. He made the whole process extremely easy and was very accessible whenever we had any questions (and trust me, I had A LOT). There were a few occasions where I wanted to show up to see the venue with my family, and he didn't give us any trouble, even if he was busy!
At this time, I truly could not imagine having our wedding with any other venue. Being the bride already comes with lots and lots of stress; but I honestly felt Raul and his team showed up and helped so much that I was not running around with my head cut off. All I did was show up to our wedding and everything was taken care of, and I didn't even have a wedding planner!
This venue provided a day of coordinator for us, Madison, and let me just say, she is an amazing coordinator! She helped us with the food tasting before the wedding and also was there for us until the end of the wedding! She didn't have to stay with us but decided to, just to help make our day even more special. My husband and I also had so much fun with Madison during our photoshoot after the ceremony :)
I couldn't have done it without this amazing team! I mean look at our photos! I've had guests tell us they haven't been to a wedding this beautiful. It makes me so happy to relive my wedding looking through the beautiful photos/ videos. I cannot say thank you enough for everything they have done for us. My experience was even better than I could ever hope for, and that's thanks to this wonderful, hardworking team here at Eagle Glen!
This will not be the last you see of us! (My husband loves golf and will be coming here more frequently!) We are going to miss working with you, you all felt like family to us! Thank you for making this little girl's dream come through with her...
Read moreTip of the cap to the starter, Marshall and GM for making my diaster of an outing into a silver lining playbook. I was late to my round, but somehow made it to the first tee. I hadn't realized that the course was cart path only for the most part due to fairway overseeding, and I'm still recovering from a knee replacement. So, it was a struggle to walk from the path to my ball. I was beat after the fourth hole, even though I opened with three pars in a row before bogeying the beautiful par 3 4th hole. From there, I called the shop to see if I could stop my round and maybe get a credit. Sean, the GM was super cool by saying yes. So, I headed back to the pro shop. Then I lost my phone after I made that call! Long story short, the starter, Marshall and pros all worked together with me to find my phone ( I have since installed the find my phone app!). Miracle!- just as I was giving up hope and returning to the clubhouse with the Marshall, a guy drove right up to us in his cart with my phone in his outstretched hand. He found my phone which had slipped off the cart seat and tumbled down a dry creek bed. Apparently, the finder was searching for his duck hook that ended up in that dry creek bed and he saw my phone! Crazy. I was so happy! I got back to the shop and Sean and the guys gave me a raincheck for a brand new round! I am so grateful to them for taking the time out of their busy day's duties to help me out. In these reviews, some have called them out for being terse or unprofessional. Not true! They are a great group of guys who work there, tirelessly trying to make our golf day the best day it could be. I'd have them all over for Thanksgiving if my wife would let me! About the course. It is super challenging, and not for the faint of heart. But if you're playing well, it is a treat. The holes are thoughtfully laid out, with a mix of easy, medium and hard holes. The greens are tricky, but smooth and true.Nature abounds. Crossed paths with a deer, and later on a coyote, and later on, that duck(hook). It is so pretty out there it's sometimes breathtaking. All in all, the course, the workers and the management are all top notch. If you're thinking about whether to tee it up at Eagle Glen, stop thinking, and go for it. Much like most of your tee and...
