Wow. Just wow. Francis and Vendador Chicago truly are a hidden gem amongst the robust dining scene that is Chicago.
We were fortunate enough to experience Francis' in-home private dining experience, and I cannot stop raving about it. From our first interaction, I could feel Francis' energy and enthusiasm for food, which directly translated to the experience itself! He was highly accommodating, even through many date and menu changes. And this is all before we even took a bite of his food (which, if this was any indication, was going to be next level!)!
Just a little background to help paint the picture, we shared this experience with another couple, and throughout the meal, Francis did a great job with just letting us catch up with each other, while also interacting with us. He orchestrated the service like a true professional, which we all appreciated. Now onto the actual food itself. The salmon crudo with citrus?! I still dream of this dish. It was so fresh, and perfectly balanced in every way possible. The fresh, homemade pasta carbonara with uni cream sauce can be described in one word - decadent! He even topped it with fresh shaved truffle (drooooollll). The roasted baby carrots. Wow, I never knew a carrot could taste this amazing. I could go on and on, but in summary, all 6 courses he made for us were on par, if not better, than other fine dining establishments. Also, I must make note of one perk of having this experience at home (besides being able to change into sweatpants immediately after eating all of this yumminess) - we get to keep all of the leftovers! He had made us an entire tiramasu cake, but we only got thru half of it that evening. What's better than cake for dessert?! Cake for dessert two nights in a row!

Francis was incredibly responsive, and very open to ideas to create a special dinner for my husband’s birthday. He was very responsive throughout the entire planning process, and just made everything seamless and easy. He and his team were prompt, professional, kind, and just a joy to be around. The food and drink were beyond incredible—seriously better than MANY restaurants that we’ve been to. The presentation was gorgeous and the complexity of flavors within each dish were astounding. Our guests are still talking about the amazing food and wonderful service. His team took care of everything, so much so that I had zero cleanup to do at the end of the night (what a treat!). I can’t recommend Francis of Vendador Chicago enough—we can't wait to work with the talented Francis and his team again!
UPDATE July 2022: Francis prepared TWO additional amazing events for us. The first was your (not so basic) Baby Sprinkle. I wanted the food to shine here, and Francis delivered once again. None of the women expected the food to be so amazing at a Baby Sprinkle! Our Greek-inspired family style lunch was incredible--mouth watering polenta bites, Greek salad, zucchini fritters, Caesar salad with lamb kabobs & hummus.
Second was a plated, coursed meal with wine pairings for a unique and memorable Father's Day dinner. My out-of-town parents were blown away. They commented multiple times that this was better than MANY restaurants they've ever been to. Each course was well thought out, unique, beautiful in presentation, and incredibly delicious.
