Does Bonsai place has a huge sign on Highway 10 going east and Westbound. So far as advertising is concerned there on top of it one thing is it says that $20 Bonsai which struck me as very strange. So when I got there I realized that the $20 bonsais were itty bitty tiny baby bonsais that were just starting off. Don't get me wrong this place is really cute and very organized and the lady that runs the shop knows everything there is to know about these plants. I've been wanting a bonsai for an extremely long time but as I walked by I didn't realize that there were inside and outside bonsai plants. The lady explained that I could walk around look at the different prices that were on steaks inside of the plants. I was flabbergasted. A bonsai about 2 and 1/2 to 3 ft tall is like $6,500 I almost had a seizure. But they're so beautiful I did find me a reasonable size Bondi for $65 which is only about a foot tall but these trees you can have in your family from generation to generation and it's the upkeep of them are very minimal the lady was extremely nice she gave me a card and a pamphlet explaining how to take care of it the origin and also her contact information I would advise anyone who's in the market for purchasing a bonsai tree please visit this location...
Read moreEvery bonsai here that I saw was very nice, though honestly most were well out of my range unfortunately. The $20 bonsai advertised as you drive by are all junipers. They are nicely styled and look healthy. I would have liked to see some other options of tree types in that price range (the main reason I took off a star from an otherwise very nice location with an I'm sure knowledgeable owner). The variety of trees located within is nice and there are some very unique ones (at least in my limited experience with the art). The majority of those accessible to most (from a financial perspective) are still young (between 4 & 8 years old) so be aware of that going in. If you have more money, there are a number of very beautiful, older bonsai (much much older in some cases).
All in all, if you're in the area, I recommend stopping in if you are even a little curious about bonsai and want to get started/ give it a try. Even if nothing tickles your fancy enough to make a purchase, there are gorgeous trees well worth stopping in to look at while you...
Read moreLarge selection of bonsai. That is really the only positive. Prices are outrageously high. Minimum will be $70 for a small juniper bonsai, with others costing nearly $7000! I get that it takes a lot of hard work, time and patience to grow these, but my God they are expensive.
My other complaint was the lack of hospitality and friendliness from the owners. The man spoke more than the woman, but it was like pulling teeth to get either of them to say more than a few words. If you read some of the other reviews on here, they had the same experience. I'm sorry...if you want me to spend the prices you are asking for your plants, you'd better act like you appreciate me taking a detour off I-10 to come check out your establishment. I never felt welcomed the entire time I was there, to which after browsing for a few minutes, I promptly got in my car, took my hard-earned cash and left. There are too many other nurseries and online stores that will appreciate my business to deal with that kind of attitude. I...
