Cottonwood Hockey Shop — Local services in Cottonwood Heights

What a great store! Our family is new to skating and actually bought skates online before learning we had dedicated local shops (we had actually been told by someone at a local rink that there weren't any, believe it or not!). I was embarrassed to even go in to ask for help as an online buyer, but Jae and the team at Cottonwood graciously made us feel at home and helped us with baking/fitting and sharpening, taught us much more about skating and skate care, and even got our little girls genuinely interested in hockey. It's all they've been talking about since. We also met a family in town for a tournament who'd found the shop to replace a broken stick and enjoyed bending their ears about the sport. Tons of gear here too, really a fun place.

I've read reviews of other shops in the valley where people have had questionable customer experiences, even being ignored - that's certainly not going to happen here! Just a cool place and fantastic service, and a perfect example of why small, well-run, locally-owned businesses will always be a cut above national chains. There's no comparison...

Update 3: rode same bike as my first rental and it worked flawlessly. Thank yall for doing right by your customers. Definitely coming back.

Update 2: To my satisfaction they have remedied the situation to my complete satisfaction. Allen/Pat went the extra mile and did right by this customer. Looking forward giving this shop another go. I should mention upon pickup they took the time to swap parts on our rentals to fit our riding style and my buddy's (seasoned veteran) bike performed flawlessly.

Update: first 15 mins at snowbird big mtn trail, rear brake blew out. Leaked hydro fluid all dow the handle bar. I notified the shop of service issue at end if 1st run.

My wife and I recently got into ice skating and decided to purchase our own skates for a more consistent feel. A quick search led us to this hockey shop, which conveniently also carries figure skates. While browsing, my wife opted for an entry-level pair of heat-moldable hockey skates over similarly priced figure skates that weren't moldable. The staff was excellent – patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. They expertly baked both our skates, discussed blade sharpening options and grind hollows with us, and even included a free pair of pink laces for my wife.
