Being new in town, I was all hyped up about going to Cassidy Hill to meet my friends there, for the first time for me, until of course it came time to the "wine tasting." I could not have been more obviously singled out and discriminated against by the way I was treated or shall I say, mistreated!! You'll be shocked when I tell you, that I was literally served half the portion the other people around me were; neither did the server show the same enthusiasm in introducing the different wines to me, as she did with the rest, whicht mind you, I paid for, just like the rest of the customers. The couple to the left of me, must have felt sorry for me at noticing the obvious difference in treatment/negligence shown towards me, and started talking to me I guess so that the long waits in between the tastes, would not appear as cruel. As I was done with my last sip, I thanked them for their friendlyness and kindness. As for Cassidy Hill, in conclusion, they have a whole lot to learn regarding the business of "hospitality," "neutrality with the public," and embracing new races, as I am of Hispanic origin and proud to be so. Also, their owners can learn a lot from places like Williamsburg Winery, VA in order to properly train their staff members, so that they can make everyone's experience, a "feel good at home" one! If I ever return there, it would only be, to see if they have improved!!! Otherwise, for now, I have NO plans of making it back there, as my $$$ is as GREEN as American money can be, and better...
Read moreI grow Marquette at home so I like to visit area vineyards growing it and see what they do in the vineyard and the wine they produce. Cassidy Hill is large for New England, and well kept. This year has been very humid and a lot of local vineyards are struggling with the fungal pressure, but I found a minuscule amount of infection here. Literally 3-4 berries out of millions. Tons of Japanese beetles though, but they provide a kind of leaf pulling service. The only Marquette they make is a Rosè. The mix with it in other wines, but no dry red Marquette. Maybe not enough volume? Thereâs not too many people around here doing a Marquette Rosè, and I like this one better than those. Itâs full bodied, not thin. The fruit is pronounced but not overly sweet. Worth...
Read moreWife and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon on a visit to CT and I cannot stress enough how amazing everything was. Did three flights to try all the wines, which were well priced. Bought 4-5 bottles because we had too many favorites but the Coventry Spice definitely won the day (got two bottles of that)
But the reason we promised to do a review was because of Nicole. She was exceedingly knowledgeable, not just about their stock but also wines generally. We thought she was kind, polite, friendly, and an absolute joy to talk with. I don't like leaving reviews but this was worth the time, worth the trip,...
