Dollar General — Local services in Covington

DO NOT GO HERE! This is NOT the fault of the staff- this is a failure by corporate. Local staff is GREAT. Their hands are tied. No self checkout. Expect to stand there like an idiot for 15min with 2 items while someone swipes 7 different cards that are declined and makes a scene over a $30 purchase. They can't just tell them GTFO. They should be able to. Staff is kind and friendly, they simply have been set up by corporate for failure. They closed the self-checkout, which was their only saving grace. Boomers used to use it, get confused, then stare at it until someone came to assist. If you cannot do the basics, you should not be in public

It has gotten worse. The simple things we come here for- very easy, basic items- are not stocked. They are perpetually "waiting on the truck". Something as simple as egg noodles will not be stocked, they won't have it- and never will. Whatever you come for- they will be out of only that- and will not know when it will be in. The entire point of this store is to prevent the community from having to drive 20min to get basic items, yet they fail spectacularly at this one...

I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t realize they closed at 9, that’s entirely my fault. But I was able to go in because the doors weren’t locked and it was 8:57, instead of being kind and explaining that it was their closing time, I got the rude remark that they were “ closing in two minutes” and that if I was getting something “I better hurry it up” as if I didn’t find what I had wanted they’d kick me out. Was just very unpleasant and I’m not happy. Wish I could leave a negative...

Great store for those convenience items and things you really don't want to run into the bigger stores for. Good selection of $1 items for the home. Some prices are more than the big box stores, but that's to be expected for the convenient location and quick-stop needs. This store is my go-to whenever I need something. Nice selection of frozen and refrigerated items, drinks, food, and general household supplies. Staff is friendly and always greets you...
