Wilderness not too far away! Wild brook trout in the tiny stream. ( Very scared, easiest to see at night with flashlight). This time of year rattlesnakes are still out, just be aware and cautious and DON'T mess with one if you see it. ( We saw a very large one crossing the forest access road, shot a quick video and watched it go up the mountain side... rattling as it went because it was clearly irritated by our presence... BUT it was GOING AWAY, indicating it just wanted it's own space) Lastly: FOLLOW the regulations and buy a Forest access permit! Too many folks now a days ride motorcycles or just come explore without spending a freaking penny towards access road maintenance ... I've been buying a national forest "stamp" since about 1980 when they were actually stamps, buy one every year to go along with my hunting license, but if YOU don't hunt ( and trust me, hunting in Nat. Forest is WAY more difficult than private farmlands... you gotta "earn" it up there) Please buy the appropriate permit for usage.
P.S. I'm probably a bigger conservationist than 99% of the people who don't hunt. I LOVE to see the wildlife in it's most natural environment. Often don't even shoot anything when I get the opportunity, and when I do I try to take a native American approach to usage of the animal ( take nothing more than you need, use everything you...

Together with the South Mountain Cemetery, it is a historic property located near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Rockbridge and Nelson Counties. The earliest known interment is that of Joel Hight in 1793. Regular worship services at the Haines Chapel ceased in 1955, but an Easter Sunrise service occurs each year, as well as a Homecoming in the Fall. The church and cemetery were listed on the National Register of Historic...
