Proformance Racing School is THE place to go to learn advanced car control, and driving on the track. I rented a school Toyota and it was a complete blast the entire time. My instructor Wes was awesome, and was happy to help me work on what I needed to improve on the most. I came in to the school expecting to learn a lot, and I did. Was well worth every single penny. I would STRONGLY recommend this to anyone who wants to further their driving training even if they don't plan on going on track. We started the day for the first hour in the classroom talking about different car control, vehicle dynamics, and how the track works. We then split into 2 groups to do different skill drills. The majority of the focus is on braking and keeping your eyes up and focused down the road. The drills are hard braking at a cone gate, slalom, split second steering decision making, and understanding understeer conditions. The skill drill that is the most fun is for sure the understeer condition, as you accelerate as hard as you can and then stop as hard as you can while turning through a cone gate. The goal is for you to feel what understeer is, and how to correct it. After the drills, we did a quick class session covering how the race track works. We then did a slow 2 laps (20-30mph) with the instructor driving so we could learn the turns, where the apex and exit points were. Then we switched seats and did 2 slow laps. After that it was an hour lunch break before we hit the track. After lunch group 1 (my group) hopped in the cars and we did 20-30 minutes of lapping with the instructor giving us tips and helping us create focus points on our driving. After the first session we gout out of the cars then went with Don (head instructor) out into the infield of the track to watch the other students so he could point out tips and tricks for getting around the track faster. We would spend the rest of the day doing 20-30 minute lapping sessions, and then 20-30 minute sessions with Don around the track pointing out tips. We did 3 sessions on track and then ended the day in the classroom covering everything we learned. Overall, AWESOME experience. It was a huge blast, and like Don said, I'll be back.

Was thrilled to have the opportunity of a company event to attend a one day performance driving school. This started with instructions, then drills in the morning. Each drill a coach would speak with you through the window on how to maneuver through the cones, at the end, another coach would advise how to improve. Each drill we got to do 4 times, 4 different drills. These are drills to help with accident avoidance type situations (their AM skills class). After the drills, review instruction, lunch break, then afternoon on the track! The founder Don is very enthusiastic and leads the school and classroom portions. His instructions really helped out on the course and a joy to learn through his extensive knowledge. In the afternoon, my driving coach in the car, Shannon, did a fantastic job helping me become better at driving around the track. She is extremely knowledgeable of the track and excellent and patient to help improvements. I was a little nervous as I don't daily a manual, but improved throughout the day. As helmets are needed and provided for the afternoon, a headset is used to hear the instructor, this was helpful and directions and pointers were clear from Shannon. With cones on the track to give markers for braking points, apex, etc, it made it clear and helpful as someone new to track driving. We rented the school cars, GT86, with racing seats, 5 point harnesses, and a roll cage. These cars have just the right amount of power to be lots of fun and excellent handling. With the rules on the track and coaches, I felt safer in that car today then I did just driving to Pacific Raceways on regular roads/highways.

Three years ago, we bought a car built for the track. We dipped our toes in with a Taste of the Track session, and I liked it. Then came two track days with another racing school… but it just didn’t click.

Fast forward to June 2024: I gave it one last shot at ProFormance during their Women Setting the Pace event. That day changed everything. I had an incredible instructor, and suddenly it all made sense. I was hooked. I went back five more times that season, improving with every lap.

This year, I kicked things off with another lesson to shake off the winter rust—and that’s when it really came together. Now I’m out on track every 3 to 4 weeks, and I absolutely love it. I wish the season never ended.

Why do I like ProFormance?

-Location: It’s the closest track to Seattle. No long drives, no overnight stays. You can squeeze in a session before lunch and still make it home for dinner. Just go for a morning or afternoon, or even on your lunch break.

-Structure and safety: Don runs a tight ship, and I appreciate that more than I can say. The rules are clear, the cones are perfectly placed, and every lap feels purposeful. Safety isn’t just a priority—it’s a standard. I’ve been to other tracks, and trust me, that’s not always the case.

-Track design: It’s a shorter course, which means more laps, faster learning, and quicker confidence-building. And when you feel confident, you start to truly enjoy the drive. Honing your skills means confidence and with confidence comes enjoyment.

-Community: ProFormance is incredibly welcoming to women. Their events consistently draw female drivers, which is rare in this space. We keep coming back because we feel safe, respected, and genuinely supported.

Every day at the track feels like a celebration. Don, Donna, and Siena don’t just run a racing school—they open their hearts and that makes all...
