In the sleepy little town I grew up in, I attended the old Central Baptist Church that used to be on main street near downtown Crandall in a small, but well-loved old church. I attended there from when I was born until I began high school in Mesquite. I played guitar and sang for the congregation at the old church on occassion and helped with things like puppet shows for the few younger kids who attended, and helped with vacation bible school when I became too old to attend it as a student. I have extremely fond, and good memories of my days there. THE NEW CENTRAL BAPTIST CHURCH is located on the way out of Crandall on FM 148. It has ALL the amenities of a modern house of worship, plus a few awesome things you may not expect. A complete basketball gymnasium for starters (complete with a team that competes in a basketball league), and perhaps some tumbling classes for strong young energetic kids...that is when the Covid 19 virus isn't a damping factor on the fun. The church has a very large main congregation hall (plenty of room for social distancing) with a state-of-the-art sound system and instruments for the musicians. The church has every possible thing to keep the young-uns entertained, busy and learning. There is even an electronic gaming room with other attractions in there I won't reveal (you'll have to go check it out). There are lots of Sunday school rooms/classes from nursery and kindergarten to young adult, adult, and senior. Since the church added on with a new main hall and offices the old main part of the church is now useful for various purposes, and even some special events. The music is mostly modern, lively, and inspirational. In some cases shows and music are professionally performed by outside special guests, and also an inside special guest, the new music director who I recently heard performing, and can assure you he's terrific (what a great voice he has, and what a fantastic pianist he is). Central Baptist really found a gem. I'm a musician, so I have special appreciation for excellence in music. The preacher CHARLES WILSON, is also relatively new to Central Baptist. You can tell he's a new world man who can give some old-school sermons. I think that's a great ability, and something we could all use more of these days, during these times when our faith is contantly being tested from all sides. MR. WILSON is also one of the nicest, and most sincere pastors, and people you'll ever meet. The members of the congregation are welcoming and friendly, and the food is great at CBC...when you can get the great ladies in-charge of cooking and feeding large groups inspired to get into the church kitchen and work with the passion of a French chef. Those ladies are wonderful at at their skill, and often under appreciated. I for one LOVE THEM... and the people and employees of CENTRAL BAPTIST CHURCH,...
ย ย ย Read moreWe love this church!!! We moved to Lindale six months ago and now drive over an hour each way to get there on Sundays, Wednesdays and for special occasions, but we could not imagine leaving Central Baptist, even though Lindale has more churches than restaurants to chose from. I am sure they are lovely places to worship, but Central Baptist is a special. The Bible Study leaders spend a great amount of time in study, research and prayer when preparing our lessons as they teach or remind us how we should apply God's Word to our daily lives. Our Pastor, Brother Charlie is a good preacher, but he is also a Paster. Something that is not seen in all churches in these times. He is truly a man of God and his love for each member is evident. The music is wonderful! Michael Bridges, the praise team and the choir sound like heaven on earth. And Chris, the youth pastor, is the most dedicated Youth Pastor I have known in my 60 years on this earth. He has a passion for our youth that cannot be squashed. But more than anything, it is clear that the God is in this place as we worship Him. I wholeheartedly invite anyone who is looking for a church home to visit Central Baptist in Crandall and come see me in Gerald Blakely's Sunday School class. You will be blessed...
ย ย ย Read moreMy sister and her family moved to Crandall on June 2020 and, in their search to find a new home church, they came across Central Baptist Church. Their kids starting attending Wednesday's activities on August and they invited my daughter to join them.
Regardless of the distance, since we were still living in Grand Prairie, I kept bring her to Central Baptist Church on Wednesdays. She absolutely LOVE it, and so did we. ๐
We were members at a church that put a lot of effort on their kids' ministry, so we prayed to God to find a church with an awesome kids' ministry and a congregation that made us feel welcomed.
Needless to say, when we finally moved to Crandall on December 2020, God answered those prayers; He brought us to Central Baptist Church. We are now part of a loving church family, where the Word of God is being taught at all times, from the very little ones to the...
