My fam (wife and 2 kids) went to this place on Thursday 10/26 as our one family outing to pumpkin patch this year and we drove 30 minutes to visit the farm.
Since we didn’t want to deal with the crowds of the weekend with our 6 month old twins, we decided to go on a weekday that fit with my work schedule.
It was a really nice morning so we thought we would actually miss any rain, but unfortunately within 15 minutes of entering, the rain came. We sat in the pavilion another 10 minutes to figure out whether we wanted to wait it out or come up with another plan. We decided to go off site to grab lunch and then come back once the rain let up since there is same day re-entry with the wrist band. I pulled around the car to the exit and as my wife exited, she even asked about re-entry and the worker at the exit said yes you can re-enter today.
After lunch off-site, we came back 45 minutes later, at 3:30pm, only to find the place was closed for the remainder of the day. We sat in the parking lot for 10 minutes and tried to call the office multiple times to speak to someone but no one answered.
We were quite upset because the worker at the exit could have easily told us they were going to close or it was likely they would be closing. If we knew that, we would have talked to someone right then about a rain check since we only were about to enjoy 15 minutes on the farm.
My wife called this morning and explained exactly as I have above and the manager said that:
re-entry to the farm was only allowed if we didn’t exit the parking lot. they could not give us a rain check and we would have to pay again to re enter on another day.
Regarding #1:
No where on the website mentioned that re-entry is void if you exit the parking lot. Also there was no one working the parking lot that day so there is no way they would have known if we exited. I would also assume this is true every day, even if there were parking lot attendants present. No chance the parking lot workers would remember what cars entered and exited the parking lot. So I don’t buy that it could be, or ever is, enforced. Yet, it was used as a reason to not give us a rain check.
Regarding #2:
This excerpt come straight from the website…
“We attempt to keep the farm open as much as possible, but please be advised that inclement weather may result in necessary closures of the farm or certain activities/attractions for safety. In the event of a closure during operational hours, refunds will not be provided, a raincheck to visit at an alternative date may be available at the Manager’s discretion.”
We spent 15 total minutes enjoying the farm and upon returning after rain subsided the place abruptly closed for the day.
I’m curious in what scenario would the manager use their discretion to give a rain check if not this one.
Please make this right….
We are not looking for a refund or trying to get something extra out of this. We just want a rain check for 2 weekday entry fees to enjoy the farm with our two kids that we were not able to do the first time because of an...
Read moreMy family and I used a group coupon to go to their opening day yesterday, and while unfortunately it was 92 degrees, we were still glad we came. I know it would be a lot more crowded if it wasn't for the hot weather. We are from Northwest Indiana, so we drove approximately an hour to get there. It is way more immersive, affordable, and entertaining than any of the pumpkin patches we have in NWI! I would come here again since I think the place really was fun for kids up to the age of twelve.
Pros: a LOT of cute fun things for the kiddos up to twelve years old. We really loved the trains, slide, and some of the rides that cooled us down in the midst of the heat. The "smoke shack" had the best food on the farm, and the workers were very attentive and sweet. It was my first time trying a hamburger with Mac and cheese, and they managed to pull it off pretty well. The place really tried to cater to parents with their outdoor bars, and one had swings that adults can sit on while watching their little ones play. Also, their apple cider slushies were delicious! The gift shop had some many cute fall decor that even my minimalist self wanted to buy as decorations. I absolutely adored their zinnia, sunflower, and cosmos fields. Cute for pictures!
They even had a barn (not open to the public) and outdoor ceremony gathering by the flower fields for weddings. I think it would be so lovely to have a wedding reception there!
Cons: not much entertainment for teenagers. I found my cousins attending to their younger siblings a lot, which helps with sibling bonding, but that can only last so long. I think there has to be more entertaining rides for them. Then it would be perfect for all ages. Other criticism is the lack of places with AC. I know it's a place for cooler temperatures, and yes, we know it's a pumpkin patch, but we would have stayed ma lot longer if we weren't baking in the heat. There are lots of picnic tables with shade, but that can only do so much for even the elderly. Also, the porta potties are your only bathrooms, but the workers do work around the clock to keep them clean. And there are outdoor sinks everywhere too, especially by the petting zoo. I do wish there can be refills and better cup sizes for the apple cider slushies. They were a little pricey too.
Sorry for the long review, but I try to be open and fair in all of my assessments. Overall, I had a great time, and would come back here again....
Read moreso this place is awesome, we’ve gone here a few years in a row now, lot of stuff to do. while my two kids 9 and 11 were jumping and playing on the trampoline (bubble area) we noticed every person shape or size getting yelled at by the workers. no running, laying down (I’m old and get tired fast) no one said a word to me, they told my kids to not touch each other lol. Anyway finally one of the little workers told her friend to come talk to me and she immediately walks over and threatens to throw me out which I of course took exception to, and asked her why am I being threatened? To which she replied I need to be more mature and I don’t have to sigh as she she kept going off on me. My kids were also playing with this other guys kids, before he got told he couldn’t sit down (he had little kids and was doing exactly what I would be doing if my kids were little) he ended up leaving telling them they took all the fun out. Then as my wife who wasn’t even involved at all walked over to talk to me, the same threatening teenager asked her if There was an issue? Literally looking for problems, then she told us to leave and threw us out to which we said no, they call security and I told her what happened, Tina the security guard handled it perfectly and let us continue to jump and play thankfully. Then after 5 10 more minutes of jumping (and being stared at) we walked over to the zip line but not before the same threatening teenage girl says “oh look whose leaving, they said I couldn’t kick them out“ totally unnecessary, looking for problems the entire time. Ruined everyone’s time that was jumping and just trying to have some fun. so disappointed cause this place is usually fun, never...
