UPDATE... No hat. No refund. No response to credit card dispute. Text reply from Alan's Lids said no refund can be issued due to dispute filed with credit card. Card Services has received no chargeback and no response. So.... I paid $245 for no hat.
I ordered a hat by phone on Tuesday... June 23rd. I called the store to ask about a hat size that was "out of stock" on the website... Two Tone Straight - 7 5/8 Long Oval. 4" Brim.
The man who answered the phone said the hat size was "in stock" at the store and I could place the order with him by phone. He took my credit card number, expiration date and security code. He asked what state the hat would be shipped to and quoted me a price. He then told me to text all the additional order information... That seemed a little different...
He didn't ask my name, my address, or anything else. He said the hat would likely be shaped that day and I'd get a picture to approve before shipping.
I sent the text giving my name; the hat size, crown & brim shape, patch desired, my shipping address and email. There was no reply. My credit card has already been charged. $245.29
I called the next day to check if the text was received. The same man answered the phone and told me that he'd attached the info to my order and the hat was being shaped. Again he said it would probably be done that day. After speaking to this guy, I got a "thumbs up" response to the text I'd sent the day before.
I've followed Alan's LIds on social media and see all the postings from several Rodeo's. Thought I'd give it a try.
It's now Monday, June 30th, and I haven't received any confirmation by text or email... no order number... no picture.... just a "thumbs up" reply to the text I had sent last Tuesday.
Starting to get a bit worried... Is the store legit?? Did somebody take my money and run?? They take my credit card number, charge my card but don't ask my name or provide some kind of order or confirmation number? I just text what I want and hope it all works out?
I see they're supposed to be in Wyoming this week... Should I drive there?? Maybe wait until they are in Idaho in August? I can drive down to Texas too.... But I've already paid for shipping so I'd rather not if I don't have to.
This morning I texted and emailed asking for the order to be cancelled and a refund provided..... No response.
May be a nice place to get yourself a hat if you're standing there in person. Caution... don't order by phone. Or should I say by text. Pretty sure I...
Read moreI was super excited to get my FIRST EVER custom hat shaped. My husband and I went out of our way to visit Alan’s Lids in Crowley, Texas. As we were headed from Waco back to Albuquerque. We arrive & greeted by a young lady, I told her we made our trek from Albuquerque and was excited to get my first custom hat. She gave us a “oh, hi.” No enthusiasm, just a hi. She pointed out the discounted hats along the wall. Made sure to say that thru the swinging door, the hats are more than $100. We looked at hats. Meanwhile a couple came in, who were getting help by the guy who shapes the hats. We keep looking, found our hats, and had to ask the young lady to come over, as she didn’t come back to check on us. We told her about sizing a straw hat we had, needed to be stretched and reshaped. She said to bring it in. Another customer came in, stood behind the bar area where the hats were being shaped. My husband tried to make small talk, he didn’t even care to conversate with us. No one said thanks for waiting guys, we will be with you soon, we stood there invisible. The couple were done with their hat transaction. The hat shaper/designer did not talk to us, just immediately went to help the other customer. We arrived BEFORE the couple and other customer, waited about an hour while the couple got their hats shaped. The customer service is poor, no communication from the hat maker or anyone behind the bar. Needless to say we left without a custom shaped hat. We were not looking our best because we were on the road. Our intentions were to support the hat shop and get my first EVER custom hat shaped by enthusiastic hat designers, that’s a joke, it must only be for social media. We are never returning or supporting Alan Lids at the NFR, INFR, WSTR or any other western sport they show up at. Experience doesn't even deserve a star. I don't give review's often but...
Read moreI bought a shirt for my husband and unfortunately it did not fit. I submitted an email to start the process for a return. This was submitted December 12 and it is now January 5th. I have not heard back from them. I even tried reaching them through different platforms. I am not seeking any free items. I simply wanted to return the shirt and get a refund. I understand it was the holidays but at this point there is no excuse for not getting back. It disappoints me that we have to write these reviews to get their actual attention. Keep this in mind when trying to buy from their website . Costumer service is horrible and they won’t get back to you in a...
