I was really disappointed. I had heard such great things about this gym. My daughter was in one of the classes for a couple months and I ended up pulling her from the class. The staff at the front desk were not super friendly. Did not seem like they were happy to help the customers/parents who may have needed something or have questions. The entire time my daughter took classes there, I never knew who her coach was. No one every told me who the coach was and none of the coaches every stopped to introduce themselves to the parents. To me, this is a big deal because 1. The parent is the one paying for the classes and 2. I would like to know who is responsible for my child while they are in the gym. My daughter is a gymnast and I was not happy with her progression at ATA. She never learned any new skills or progressed in what she knew. I honestly felt like she did a warm up and then just arbitrarily bounced on the trampoline and then did stuff on the mats. It seemed as though there was no one actually guiding them and challenging them. Honestly felt as though the kids in the tumbling class were not as important as the competitive girls. I kept taking her thinking one day she's going to learn something new, but it never happened. Also, my daughter told me one of the coaches she had was not very nice. I'm not looking for someone to hold her hand, but I do expect coaches working with young athletes to know how to get on their level and encourage them and challenge them. The gym always seemed a little more on the dirty side. The viewing/waiting area, the bathrooms....everything just needed a really good cleaning. I was blown away by how little it seemed the staff cared about the parents involvement. The gym my daughter does gymnastics at blows ATA out of the water with customer service and making everyone feel valued and important. I bet the coach didn't even know my daughters name. I am not sure I would recommend the gym for tumbling classes to anyone. Maybe they are just so hyper-focused on the competition girls that everyone else takes a back seat. If your daughter wants to learn how to tumble, spend your money somewhere else where the parent/coach...
Read moreMy daughter has been on a team at ATA for the past six years. She has made great friends with many girls that are mature, focused and happy. I think that competing here has been a positive influence on her life and I find the coaches to be cognizant of the role that they play and the influence that they have over each girl and boy's future. I also have to take exception with the opinion expressed by another reviewer characterizing ATA as a 'money machine'. ATA is a business, pure and simple. To stay viable, parents expect them to win competitions. To win competitions, a gym has to attract talented competitors. I am always amazed how ATA manages to do that without dismissing or minimizing the contributions of others who may not be 'super stars'. It's a delicate balance they must maintain to stay in business, retain members, and motivate kids. I certainly don't envy their task but I do applaud their commitment to it and level of professionalism exhibited while doing it. But above all I appreciate ATA's recognition that ultimately their coaches and staff are as integral to the future potential of their members as the teachers these kids see every...
Read moreToo bad I have to even leave a star. My child has cheered since she was five ( almost 17 now). This Is a money machine. Respect for parents here is ZERO! Abusive here is 100%, owner Matt could care less when we’ve complained! My child’s self esteem has gone backwards, skills backwards as to where she was this time last year. She should’ve been flying, as she weighs 90 pounds. They stick her on the bottom to base knowing she had a hip problem a year ago, this causing more problems. When couches started to abuse her, push her out, I called the owner to complain, coaches found out about that, they retaliated. team have all been cussed at or screamed at to one degree or another. My child came home after every practice in tears. Would have pulled earlier in season but contracted. We will not allow her back or to attend Summit! Had enough of this as of last week! Season is over and I am so happy! Send your kids to Twisters or elsewhere! Never go to ATA!!! Not to mention, most of the parents I’ve gotten to know feel the same and have complained...
